John Deere 3032e, L130
My L130 has started to slow. I have researched the problem and it sounds like 200 hours and that is it. Mine has 195. When I bought this I knew it wasn't top quality, but since then I bought a 3032e to mow the rougher areas and for the last couple years the L130 just mowed my yard. I was hoping it would extent its life.

So is there anything I can do or is it new transmission at $700? At that point do I just buy something else. My wife just thinks I am trying to upgrade mowers. I appreciate the wisdom I recieve from this site.

I have a customer with that same mower with almost 700 hours, the slowing may be due to the tranny showing signs of wear in either the pump or drive motor. When was the last time the tranny drive belt was changed. That can cause slippage if worn, slowing the mower. The tranny is repairable and would run about 400 if done by a shop, or you could do it cheaper yourself.

I know I have changed the drive belt, but I would have to look back and see when. It slowed the more I mowed, so I assumed it was the tranny getting hot. I guess I can find a shop who can look at it. What is involved in repairing it? I don't expect step by step instructions, just the genaral to see if it is something I want to mess with. I am not a professional mechanic, but I have rebuilt some cars so I just wonder if it is something I want to mess with.

Thanks for your help RandyT.

Jefecinco,
I have an L130 that has slowed to the point I will have to rebuild it to use it for more than a half hour at a time. Currently mine has about 280 hours on it, ironically the slower it gets the more hours it takes to get the lawn mowed. TuffTorq the builder of the transmission has a site where you can buy the repair parts to rebuild the tranny. In most cases it seems the parts run about $150 to $250 so you may want to do it yourself. The hydrostatic transmission is easy to remove and light at about 25lbs so a clean well lit workbench and you should be able to handle the job.

Thanks guys. I have been reading a lot about it. I am going to pull it at some point and give it go. Thanks for the tips.
