I have a Kubota L225 that will not move when in 1st-2nd or 3rd-4th gear selection. Works in reverse and upper two gears. No sounds when I let out Clutch in 1st-2nd other than driveshaft noise as if in neutral, which it is I quess. Has anyone had any experience on a L225 Trans? Also what about value, horsepower, and yr of this tractor as I may sell when I get it fixed? It is a 2 wheel drive with turf tires. Overall Condition "fair to better" some sheetmetal damage and rust, etc. Where is a good place to buy used parts for this tractor??

I'm not too sure if you have the symptoms straight?
If 1+2 are not working in hi and lo range (effectively 5+6)
then that sounds like a broken shift fork in the gear selector. If 1,2,3+4 work in low range but not in hi range (effectively 5,6,7+8) or viceversa then it's a broken range shifter fork. Usually if range fork is broke it will either be in low or hi with no range neutral.

Kumech: You are correct in that the 1-2 (effective 5-6)gear selection will not move tractor in either the Lo or Hi range selection. If this in fact means that I have a shift fork out of the gear selector, what must be done to repair, (must the tractor be split and the trans removed or can this be repaired by removing the shift tower?), and what will the parts cost (approx)?? How big a problem is this really. I alway do my own mechanic work, but I've never had a Japanese tractor apart, only 50 yr old Ferguson and International(farmall's and diesel crawlers). I appreciate you help in this matter! Greasy Fingers

O.K. If I remember right, the shifter cover will come off exposing the trans gears and I think you can change the fork without splitting the machine. Give that a shot I'll have to check the manual tomorrow(if I remember)But I'm pretty sure it's not that big of a job. Parts should be minimal cost and still available.

Greasy you're in luck this model has the shift forks attached to the shift cover This job is a piece of cake compared to the models that have to be split and trans case completely disassembled let me know how it goes.........
