Title pretty much says it all. Dad's tractor has a nasty vibration that seams to be coming from the hydraulic pump. It goes away when I am operating some of the hydraulics in 1 direction, but not the other. Holding onto the line that I think delivers fluid from the pump to the bucket lever, the vibration will numb your hand in seconds. Dad just wants to ignore it, but my pointing out that the failing key switch is probably just the tip of the iceberg as far as problems this has the potential to cause got him to see it my way. Or at least so much as for him to say "OK, fix it then."
I have 2 fairly easy fixes in mind that might be the cause.
1. The quick couple on the vibrating line, right near the pump seams a bit looser than it should, and looks like it has a minor leak. I am thinking this is more likely a symptom though and not the cause.
2. Change the filter. Its been a while. I think the small filter near the pump is the hydraulic filter. Is it? my thought is the vibe might be the filter by-passing.
unfortunately, I can not understand how either of these possible causes for the vibration would cause the vibration to go away when the hydraulics move in 1 direction, but remain unchanged in the other.
