Can someone point me in the right direction of where this spring is supposed to hook on an L2500DT? It looks like someone stretched it and randomly hooked it. I cannot find it anywhere on the parts diagrams.

That certainly doesn't look factory oem. I suggest trying a Kubota parts breakdown. It may be there is so much play the normal linkage won't cut the fuel completely off. You might also try a query in Orange Tractor Talks.

I searched the break downs and used the word spring in the search menu specifically for the L2500. Nothing resembles this one.

The spring may be there due to wear on the linkage rather than replacing some part with an elongated hole or something of that nature.

I think this may be partially correct. I'll post a photo of the Kubota diagram, but there is no spring. However, there is a spring holder shown, and my tractor has that - but no spring. I think what may have happened is the previous owner put this long spring on there to pull the fuel shutoff lever back in after you release it. There is an internal spring that may have weakened over time to the point it no longer retracts the linkage. And then someone gets on next time and crank crank cranks forgetting to push the shut off lever back in. But I'm still looking.

I was wondering where the spring went off my old screen door.

Here is the parts break down. It shows #170 which is called out as a "Spring Holder" and #90 "Stop Lever Shaft" is drilled for a spring. But I find no other drawing with an actual spring shown anywhere?

Maybe spring #130 is broke so someone used a screen door spring instead?

That thought crossed my mind. I've viewed a dozen or so photos online of other folks' L2500 engine and there is not an external spring on any of them. I'll pull the screen door spring off and see if the internal spring (#130) is working. I've about decided the spring was added to idiot proof the fuel shut off rod; so the battery or starter wouldn't be burned up from someone cranking without knowing the shut off rod was still pulled out.
