Oil & Fuel L2501 50 hour maintenance

New owner here...my L2501 manual transmission Kubota calls for "Hydraulic Oil filter" replacement at 50 hours (also oil and oil filter, clutch adjust). It looks to me like the hydraulic system and the transmission system operate from the same fluid / filter. Correct? One filter. My question: can I change just the hydraulic / transmission filter at 50 hours and preserve the fluid? Will 7.3 gallons of hydraulic / transmission fluid com pouring out when I spin off the filter?

The book calls for new transmission fluid at 400 hours; I intend to follow the book's maintenance schedule, despite some YouTube videos showing guys changing hydraulic / transmission fluid at 50 hours AND front axle case oil at 50 hours!

Can I change just the hydraulic / transmission filter without a fluid gusher?

There's a lot of information on here about people using a shop abc to put pressure on the dipstick opening to create a suction to keep fluid from running out. When I did my filter change, I just had the replacement filter ready to go- lost less than a quart from my B2620 and my RTV.

Kubota used to recommend changing the fluid at 50 hours, but has changed their recommendation in the last 6-7 years.

Our dealer changes just the filter at 50hours.As stated be ready and you won't loose much.

You can drive that side of the tractor up on blocks to raise it a little (or park sideways on a hill). Put a nail in the breather tube at the top of the transmission case, and make sure the filler cap is tight. If you're quick, you won't lose more than what was in the filter itself. I agree it makes no sense to change the fluid at 50 hrs. Mine has always looked very clear at the 50 hr service.
