L2501 and LandPride package deal

Almost ready to buy: Kubota L2501DT, 4wd, Ag tires, foldable ROPS, no HST, L525 loader with 66 inch bucket: plus LandPride RTA1250 tiller, LandPride DH1060 disc harrow with 16 inch discs, LandPride QH05 Quick Hitch. Dealer Quote: $21,300 delivered, plus tax of course (!)

Reasonable Deal?

I have quotes on the way from 2 other dealers.

Hmm, with those implements, I might want more horsepower than a 2501 has to offer (regardless of price).

If I step up to a L3301, It looks like I gain only 7 HP. Is that a significant difference? I am inexperienced with tractors!

There is always a balance between HP and weight and traction. My 32HP L3200 (same basic tractor as L3800/L2501/L3301/L3901) is about average for power, weight, and traction. Sometimes it could use a little more power. I'd say it's adequate for box blade work, loader work, and rear blade work. I'd want at least that much power and more for a disc harrow and tiller, which is what leads me to think the L2501 may not have enough guts. Someone else may have additional comments.

It used to be simple -- you would consider an L3200 or an L3800 if you needed more power. Now, you have the L2501 with basic Tier IV Interim emissions (same as what the L3200 and L3800 had) but the L3301 and L3901 get you into Tier IV Final emissions, which adds cost and has been problematic for some customers (in all fairness, haven't heard reports about the L3301/3901 specifically, so maybe they have been OK).

I use a LP RTA 1258 with my L3200 and it works great. I would think that a L2501 should be fine for a RTA1250.

I just bought the L3301. Seven hp does make a difference for pulling, etc. I also went with the gear drive, shuttle shift for the extra power. May want to consider the few extra dollars.View attachment 414079View attachment 414079
