This is a tractor I started working on yesterday for a customer of mine. I'm replacing the clutch, I repacked all of the loader cylinders, will be replacing all of the hydraulic hoses, and putting new o-rings in the loader valve. It's getting a new seat, exhaust pipe, drag link and tie-rod ends, the left hand bevel case seals, all of the fluids changed, the decomp wire, hourmeter cable, and high-speed reverse lock-out cable. It should be about 20 hours work by the time I'm all done.

Are you replacing both clutch disks or just the travel clutch?

That's a big list - and a lot of work- it would take me way more than 20 hours (I'm slow). :eek:

Just the drive clutch and the drive plate, the PTO is seldom used. I will replace both belleville spring though. I should be finished today. All I have left to do is reinstall the clutch, push the machine back together, replace the o-rings in the loader valve, and replace those cables that I mentioned, plus replace all of the fluids.

Hey Brian, my friend has a L355 with the shuttle and his travel clutch needs replacing. I have an alignment tool for the L345 travel clutch. Do you happen to know if the 355's clutch uses the same pilot tool? Anything else about a L355 clutch job we should know? It would be great if you could drop in for a beer - but it's a hike from Brentwood to Mass. Take care, Dick B

I'm not sure that I have ever done a clutch on an L355. If I did it was close to 20 years ago. So, I guess my answer is, I don't know. I'm sure the pilot bearing is the same size but I'm not sure about the splines on the disc.

Cant you put the clutch on the tranny shaft, roll the tractor back together, then install the pressure plate bolts? Used to do John Deer 2630, 3020 etc that way. It was much easier to align. All you had to hit was the pilot bearing as you wiggled it together!

I guess you could do it that way. Personally I'd rather use a wooden dowel with masking tape wrapped around it to the right diameter.

Here is the assembly on the bench mounted in the Kubota tool.
