2008, L2800, HST, 473 FEL / Ford 8N, (well maybe only a 7.5N!)
Well I'm closing in on a deal for a L2800 HST.

I think I've found a decent deal for this area (NCal) at 15,600 for L2800HST,FEL,R4, Folding ROPS.

The dealer mentioned this is not the "dash 1" model (L2800 -1) that are supposed to be the latest and have more HP.

Can anyone describe the differences between the "dash 1" and the previous version.

Should I pay less for this considering not "dash 1"?

Thanks.

Paul

The dash 1 model has a slight increase in hp. So slight you wouldn't notice it going from one to the other. However, the price you mention for a (non dash 1) 2800 HST with FEL is about as good as you will find anywhere. I can't imagine you will find one for less.

I replaced an L2800 with an L3400-1. I can't tell the difference in HP 99% of the time. The only time might be with my bush hog, but the difference appears to me to be negligible. I can however tell a big difference in fuel consumption, and with fuel prices that's not good. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the older L2800.

Thanks All.

This helps clear up the mystery. It is amazing how little of the details can be found on the Kubota site. Without the experience of this forum and members - I'm not sure I'd ever find out.

That is the very reason I would not upgrade to the 3400...oh and mine is paid for:)

Just to clarify... My upgrade was not entirely by choice. I had problems with the L2800 and made the choice to replace it rather than deal with iffy repairs. Otherwise I would still have the 2800.:(

I bought a new 2008, L2800 HST, w/ Kubota FEL in May this year for $14,900.00. He offered a gear model for $1,000.00 less. I am happy so far. I am still happy with my BX1500 too!

Someone had posted a while back that the newer units with the suffixes are the one that meet the latest EPA off-road emissions specs. This may or may not be the case on every model, as sometimes a lightly changed model that has been in production a while will get a suffix to signify the changed model. If this model does have the more stringent emissions, it will most likely use more fuel; more than just the additional fuel the extra 1-2HP would require.
