Kubota L2800HST
Having a Kubota LA463 FEL installed on my L2800 next week. Should be here by Thursday. Had to be ordered. Having a tooth bar installed on the loader at the same time while its there and the 50 hour service done. (Even though it now has 135 hours, oil has been changed but other service hasn't been done). Is there anything else I might need installed while the tractor is there? Hooks or anything on the bucket? Never had a loader before but always wished that I had bought one when I bought the tractor new 3 years ago. Just a homeowner with 8 acres. 5 acres in woods. Plan on using the loader for gravel, mulch, dirt hauling etc. But will be cleaning off some more land as I can. I'm a hobbyist beekeeper, what about pallet forks? I know I can't afford a grapple! Hopefully the loader will be of help there. Just wondering what options other people like and find handy!

I would have them put on a hook or two just because you never know when you will need them. As for the forks i would try to find some clamp on ones out side of the dealer.

I put a hook on each side of my bucket for lifting and pulling ...I didn't do the tooth bar as I use my bucket for maintaining a gravel drive and I thought the
bar wouldn't allow for smoothing as easy as without and I have a backhoe with teeth if i need to dig!! :D

I purchased a set of paynes clamp on pallet forks. I almost sold them after buying QA pallet forks but found clamp ons to still be very useful for some jobs such as adding additonal capacity to the FEL bucket when hauling tree limbs or lumber that wont fit in the bucket.. The small stuff goes in the bucket, the larger/longer debris goes across the forks. Keep in mind here this load if fairly light for its size. Click on the poor quality phone pics for a larger image.

Using just one fork has come in handy as well when planting medium size trees.

Many here on the forum gave good advice regarding the pros and cons of clamp on forks. If you do not approach a load straight on they have a tendency to move regardless how tight you clamp them. They also have weight limitations.. I somehow bent one with my LA 463 so I have to be real careful when using them on the LA854 loader.

If you are doing a lot of heavy pallet work I advise against them, purchase QA adjustable pallet forks..

Good luck.... Chuck.
