Hi all!

I noticed the other day that when I was sitting on a slight incline, tractor in neutral, parking brake engaged, the tractor would/did roll.

Thinking this isn't normal as I'm not the most knowledgeable of the workings of all things tractor-ish . I usually park it with it in gear, brake engaged so hadn't noticed it until now.

I'm thinking, not sure, but my wife has on several occasions rode around on it with the brake engaged... Damaged? Repairable if damaged?

Should I be worried? Normal? Not normal?

Something I can fix if need be?

Worried about nothing?

Thanks!

It is easy to overlook the parking brake on the L2800, I have done it a few times now I am in the habit of hitting the brakes before I go anywhere.

My L2800 does not move with the parking brake on so something is wrong.

It's a wet brake system which I like better than the dry because it's protected. If the 2800 is like my L then the parking and foot are connected to the same brake (mine has the little knotched stop lever near the brake pedal). If the foot brake holds it then the parking brake might just need adjusting. You can wear one out and they can be replaced. A quick look at my manusl and the brake case seems to be on the outside of the gear case, so maybe not to hard to replace. Looks like there are 2 clutch discs in there.

It seems brakes on a tractor are not fixed like other things because of the slow speeds and pulling stuff in the dirt.

Good Luck,
Rob

I noticed that you can engage the Parking Brake a little or you can stomp on the brakes hard and engage the parking brake to where the tractor will not move. I assume you did it lightly and most likely didn't do any damage... worst case, you wore the brake down a little. Push on the parking brake leaver a little... hold your hand on it and you can feel it ratch as you push down on the brake. I drove several times with the brake (slightly) engaged, I don't think I did any damage.

You need to push down a little harder to get a good engagement on the parking brake so when you try to go somewhere the HST will tell you you ain't goin anywhere.

Thanks Guys!

I knew I'd get some great info! Probably no seat time until Monday when I'm waiting on the inspector to get there to re-inspect our rough-in. I'll play around with it then (after printing off everyone's thoughts!)

Thanks again!
