My year old L2800 seems to be losing tranny fluid. No obvious leak marks on the barn floor, maybe slight hydra. leaks around the fittings....but I'm new to the game and wondering what you pros think. The small level-minding glass is my only guide (no tranny dipstick on this model).

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Do you have a FEL on this tractor?

Yes, it's the FEL hoses I refer to.
Thanks, Pete

If your barn floor is not concrete it will be difficult to locate in dirt or gravel.

A fluid leak can be located by the smear of fluid somewhere on the tractor.

Is this hydraulic mist you are seeing on the 90 degree JIC fittings that are on the pressure side of the bucket lift cylinders?

Ob1,
I will check that tomorrow. I did wipe off all of the fittings before my last bit of snow removal.
thanks,
Pete

I just found the leak...I hope....and it was one of those 90deg. fittings on the right arm of the FEL. I tightened both nuts which connect the hose to the elbow. I'll see what happens when I move snow tomorrow. Some of the other fittings show some signs of hydraulic spray, but nothing like this drop I discovered.

Question: Are all of the fittings meant to have teflon tape? Well, some of mine do and some don't. Huh.

Thanks.

Fittings that depend on thread to thread contact (ex: pipe thread) for seal, require tape sealer. Fittings that use flare to tapered seat, o-ring, etc... seal, don't need tape sealer.

Thanks, Phil...that's kinda what I thought. Now I have to take the plunge and take apart these hoses for the first time. I have yet to remove the FEL from the tractor since I bought it.

BTW, we used to live in J'ville, and went out to Camp Weed in Live Oak. What a lovely place in a lovely town. I can smell the warmth of those fields and woods around the lake there. I would trade the soil there for the endless rocks we have here any day. The Kubota likes a challenge, though, so we'll stay up here in the rocks and snow....sigh. Pete
