Anybody own one of these tractors? I would like to hear some opinions on this model. I am seriously looking at buying the hydro model. I don't really need the extra hp of the 3400. Besides, the dealer said these would not be on his lot for a few months. Any prices? Thanks for all the good info on this site. I thought I had decided on the Kioti CK30HST, but know Kubota's reputation is really good.

Just got my L3400 last week. Similar to the 2800.

I tested and researched the L3400, CK30, JD790, MF and NH models (less on the last 2).

I really liked the CK30: looks, features, relatively newer company, great dealer nearby. I thought I HAD to have HST. Didn't like how the HST performed compared to the shuttle on the CK30. HST seemed to be lacking power -- maybe I just didn't know how to use it properly...not high enough rpm?? The shuttle shift is a lot less smooth shifting than the high-low shifter lever on the Kubota, but much better than some of the other brands. Joystick loader control was nice, cup holders, flat platform, telescoping lower control arms, heavy machine.

My beefs with the CK30 were: higher price than the L3400 with worse financing options, slower loader cycling -- a real pain, and it just didn't seem to have the same performance with only a few hp less than the L3400.

Although I was prepared to not like the L3400 -- just tried it out to be open-minded -- I fell in love. Smoothest shifting I have driven in ages (?ever?). Very Quick loader! The joystick for the loader being in the 'traditional' location was not an issue for me (maybe I am more used to it being there). The loader itself seemed to be more beefy. The reputation of Kubota is excellent and the resale value is absurd in my area. The power to weight ratio seems better matched on the L3400 -- a real pleasure to drive.

I think if the shuttle shift on the CK30 would have been smoother, I could have lived with the slower loader because the CK30 just looks so good and has a few extra creature comforts.

In the end, hp and reputation won out for me....not to mention I got the L3400 for 1000$ less than the CK30 was being offered.

You would be very happy with either.

hodak, I don't know what you'll be using for implements, but I know the L2800 does not have a live rear pto, the 3400 does. I test drove the L2800 and the Kioti CK25 (both geared models) back to back last week. Kioti was a much more solid feeling, stable machine. Bought the Kioti today after months of shopping!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 2800 HST does have live PTO. As far as price, so far I was looking for the basic tractor without FEL. I will add this later. I have a variety of implements that are used on a tractor with 23 PTO hp. The L2800 HST was quoted at 900 dollars more than the CK30 HST. I did not get a quote on the L3400 HST (yet). I will be shopping again at another dealer (KUBOTA) on friday or saturday. There are three that I can choose from within 90 minutes of my home. Keep the opinions and advice coming! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got a quote for L2800HST, Ag tires, LA463 loader for $14600. subtract about $3100 without loader, I'd guess. L3400HST was $1100 more.

The L2800 is only a 1 stage cluch im not sure who is telling you that it is a live-continuous running pto. where we bought the L3400 (witch is a great machine)it was roughly 1,000 more. do not know much about the kiotis. my mother looked at the L2800 before realizing that it was a transmission over running clutch decided when you spend that much another 1000.00 bucks was well worth it

The L2800 gear has a 1 stage clutch, but the HST version has a live PTO. Or at least that's what the brochure says, and what the dealer said.
