I've only put about 1 hour on my L2800HST but noticed it really has a hard time pulling/cutting with a 72" Woods RFM. Anyone else have this issue. I am pulling in medium range with the RPM set at around 2400RPM. As the tractor moves the RPM's drop to about 1900-2100RPM and I don't even have any grass to cut right now (it's January) and my lot is basically flat. As I let up on the pedal the RPM's come back up but it doesn't seem that productive for cutting grass. Is this normal or is this mower too much for this tractor? Thanks!

It's a guess on my part, it sounds like you are in high range and need to shift down to medium range.

Solo169,
Something doesn't sound right... What engine RPM do you need for 540 pto rpm on your machine? I would expect a faster engine speed. Are you running your trans in high? I use a 72" finish mower regularly with a L3130 and L225. L225 (24 hp-less pto hp), handles nicely unless I scalp and drag in the dirt. Where are you in Manassas? I am off Purcell Road.

I'm running in medium range and the RPM is set at 2400 so the PTO is @ 540RPM. Again, its on flat ground and not even really cutting any grass. I told the dealer about this and he's supposed to come out sometime this week.

it is definitely not right ! I run a woods heritage 72 mower on rolling hilly terrain in med range with ease ! My guess is that the brakes may be staying on or there is something caught on the mower spindles. or there is water in the fuel. Thats really all it could be . they are an awesome mowing tractor I think

I have an L3000DT and have a 72" rear mount Woods. It is a little bit bigger than a 2800, but not much. I can hardly tell that mower is even back there; in fact I usually mow at something less than 2000 rpm.

Something is not right. Your tractor should pull that mower easily.

Sounds like there is a problem. I run a Woods 6000 RD with my B-7500, (21 HP gross) I have no problem, I mow in High and have moderate sloping land.

I could be grasping at straws here, the dealer should have commissioned the mower before delivery, but spinning the blades with the pto disconnected should tell you if there is a problem that might be caused by low gearbox oil or the belts binding for some reason . . .

You got somthin wrong there Solo, my L2800 won't drop that much rpm pullin my BB with the scarfiers down @2400rpm I tried it a few days ago just to see what it would do.
