Would appreciate solutions or suggestions about these problems. Have searched forums but no clear answer other than possible defective fuel shutoff solenoid and/or relay.

Symptoms:
1. Starts but engine shuts down in a few seconds. On fourth or fifty try, will continue running.
2. Sometimes fuel gauge not working
3. Yesterday, engine would not shut down when key returned to OFF postion.

Getting ready to check fuses, solenoids, relay etc. but don't have a service manual -- suspect that the symptoms are all related and point to a specific cause but don't know what that might be.:)

Thanks for the advice-- any suggestions about what to check beyond disconnected or corroded wires going into the switch?

Locate feed wire on switch 12 volts all the time turn switch to run and make sure that post has 12 volts when in run. zero volts when off turn switch to crank switch will not stay in this position unless you hold it there should read 12 volts when in crank position if it has a glow plug ckt check that as well that's a pretty basic ing switch.

Looks like the problem is at the switch, but not sure because the symptoms listed in my original post are intermittent.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the L2900 that you could send me?

Also, anyone know if NAPA has a replacement switch and if so the part number?

Thanks for your help.

Using a volt ohm meter you can ring out the key switch...
Don't replace good parts with new parts... (New parts sometimes have problems and you will only compound your problems).
When looking for similar problems on these forums remember that your L2900 will be the SAME as the L3300, L3600 and the L4200 these are All in the Same Family.
