Hello guys,

This is my very first post. I do not claim to know a lot about tractors at all. I have been browsing these forums for a while and decided it was time to ask some questions, there seems to be a lot of knowledge on this website. I live on about 700 acres of semi hilly/flat land in East Tx. I have access to a 90hp JD and a 95hp Case anytime I want, but I'm ready to get a tractor of my own. What I would like to be able to do is maintain a caliche driveway, mow some of the pasture outside of my yard between 15-20 acres, move dirt, run a rotary tiller, and possibly get a finish mower to mow my yard. I have recently come across a deal on a 2003 Kubota L3000. It is in immaculate shape with 236 hrs. It comes with a FEL, 5' KK Bush Hog, 5' Box Blade, Hay Forks and a Spear. He is asking $11,500 for all of it. Does this seem like a reasonable price? I like everything about it, but the low hp is really concerning to me. Is it just in my head that this thing is nothing more than a Garden Tractor on steroids or can I really use this thing to brush hog..etc. Part of me thinks I'm making too big a deal of the hp, because all I can really compare it to are the two tractors I mentioned above and I know that is comparing apples to oranges. I guess I'd like to hear all opinions on this tractor, what it can do, what it cant do, how does the price sound, how much weight can the FEL lift, with the things I listed as wanting to be able to do..will it do those things?

thank you very much, I look forward to your responses.

Welcome to TBN.
I have L2800 HST and 5' brush no problem...thick stuff go little slower.

Sounds like fair deal.

The L3000 is a nice tractor. 32 HP and plenty of power. My friend has one which I have used a few times. He spent about 10k several years ago for his (tractor only). A good basic tractor. Manual fuel shutoff. Rigid non foldable ROPS. Upright exhaust. Gear drive with no shuttle. I wouldn't mind having one myself. Price doesn't sound bad.

I appreciate the responces. Would if be worth another 3k for an 09 L3400 with a loader and brush hog?

I purchased my L3000 new in 2002 with a FEL for $15,500.00. One huge difference between the tractors you mentioned and the Kubota is weight and horsepower. These two things make a big difference in what you can do and where you can go, I am assuming the larger tractors offer the feeling of a little more stability on uneven ground.

I think you should be able to do just about everything you what to do with the L3000 just in smaller bites and pieces. I am very pleased with my Kubota.

After hearing the responses on here and talking to numerous people around town. I think i'm going to go after it.

I've got an L3000, and have had no problem running a Deere MX5 60" cutter through very thick Scotch Broom, blackberries, stuff like that. As the others have said, I just go a little slower when it's very thick.

I love my tractor. My only complaint, I guess, is the lack of an HST. Shifting gears around when doing loader work is troublesome.

I paid $14500, I think, a few years ago for the tractor w/ 200hrs, FEL, 3PT backhoe, and a utility trailer to haul it all.
