L3010 Glow Plug Relay Buzz ???

My 11 year old L3010 has started making a buzz noise, intermittantly but getting worse, when the glow plug light and relay switch off. The timing seems normal and the tractor starts fine in the cold. The buzz sounds like the relay chattering. It lasts for 1 to 2 seconds. Before I just change the relay I wonder if anyone here knows what could cause this ? Is it the relay itself or something else in the timing circuit. I can't understand why an on/off relay would chatter so there must be more to it than I think. Thanks

i have the same tractor with the same problem , its worse when i leave the tractor in the weather
brought it to the dealer , he said it was a timer

Thanks - perfect timing too - I was just about to order the relay. Did you get it fixed by changing a timer or are you going to wait until it fails ?? Would that be the key switch timer do you know ? There seems to be a relay, a key switch timer, and a controler which might also be considered a timer. I am wondering which one he ment. Did he give you a price - maybe I can figure it from that. I know the relay is $20 ish and the controler is $65 ish.

BTW - Welcome to TBN yardtoy1. :thumbsup: I missed that you were new last night.
Normally I would just call my dealer with this problem. They were great in giving info and advise but unfortunately they went out of business last year.

Yeah. It looks like Champlain Valley is now the Monopoly Kubota Dealer here. They bought and closed DesMarais in Orleans and bought RiverSide in East Montpelier and have a place in Derby, Middlebury, and St, Albans. Now my wife tells me she heard TownLine down south is closing but that is hard to believe..

It leaves just Essex Rental, I suspect larger than they could easily buy, as the only other dealer around here. I'm not sure if that'll be good or bad in the long run. I did stop in at Riverside just after they were bought out but before any name got switched. Hard to tell if anything changed or not. I'm not sure why they aren't selling Kubotas at MesMaris. I guess Derby is not that far away and it was cutting into sales up there.

sorry I didn't get back sooner, I never got it fixed,I keep it in the barn and it does pretty well.
I do need to start a new thread about running rear remotes I'll try to get that posted today
