L3130
I have 25 1/2 hours on the L3130. I must admit I wasn't as used to it so to speak as I thought I was. I have about quit having withdrawals of trading in the 140 Farmall on the 3130. I love the LA513 loader. Back in January I had complained to a couple of my friends at work about the loader not having enough breakout force and they sized up the situation pretty well. They said I was too used to operating a CAT 980G and 980F. After I weighed a bucket of dirt and it came in just a little over 1300# I knew it was doing all it could do and then some.

I am going to get a 1 row cultivator for my garden plowing.

I would like to get a backhoe someday, but it will have to be a used one.
There are many applications for a tractor this size, all I had to do was give it a chance. Now with the long days and the
weather clearing up tractoring is looking better and better.

Hello Smitty,
I agree with you. Compared to the feel of my Brother-in-Laws Ford 2000 the L3130 didn't appear to me to be as rugged a machine at first. I think it is because the L3130 is so much more quiet and easy to handle, but after about 50hrs with mine it has shown it is a tough piece of equipment for it's size. I resurrected an old John Derre 5ft mower we have to use with the L3130. This is a VERY heavy duty mower and the L3130 runs it as well as the Ford 2000 did. I've been using the L3130 to plow the garden and I'm convinced that if I had Ag tires it would pull the chisel plow as well as the Ford but I do have to go a bit slower.

I saw your earlier post on setting up for a 2 row cultivator. I thought on it but I still can't think of an easy way to set one up. I think you'll be happy with a 1 row cultivator. I planted some sweet corn about 10 days ago (the cold weather made it rot in the ground, Oh well I'll try again tomorrow) and I was able to plant the rows 3 feet apart which is just a little wider than I used to plant with my L175 so I think you'll have no problem.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm with you on the cultivator FarmerEd, I'm going to get a one row version soon.

I have loader tires, but to me they don't pull as well as ag tires. They make the tractor look good though.

I had to work yesterday until about 2PM, when I got home I took the tractor and moved a little dirt around.

One of our gardens is in kind of a bottom area, the dirt is black and it needs some sandy soil mixed in. I am going to another area on our property that has an old drainage ditch on the upper side and am getting some sandy soil to mix with the black garden soil.

The 3130 does a great job and it saved me from buying a few loads of dirt.

Thanks

Smitty
