L3130 Hydraulic failure -- Serious?

I went out to "wake up" my L3130 this afternoon after a layoff of two weeks or so. It's equipped with a LA723 FEL and a Woods BH-80X backhoe. The tractor has 712 hours, 30 hours since servicing, all fluids at sufficient levels.

Anyway, the engine started, warmed up fine to 4 bars in the 70-degree-plus weather we enjoyed today. I first tried to lift the FEL bucket -- no go. At first, neither would it curl. After numerous attempts, the bucket would usually curl some, and then the bucket would lift about a foot if the lift was attempted during the curl. The bucket would not drop except on float. During one of the bucket-up successes, I drove the tractor on a 50-yard loop without problem -- steering was fine, brakes were fine.

No part of the BH would move in the slightest!

The hydraulic fluid is Kubota UDT -- crystal clear with no bubbles -- and its level shows somewhat above the dipstick mark with the engine off.

There may have been an uncharacteristic whine, but my hearing is bad in the first place, and its difficult to remember what "normal" noises are.

Any help out there? Did I miss its required shot of vitamins or something?

I am guessing but you might have a problem with the valve. Try cycling the loader valve with the engine off and also disconnect and reconnect the quick couplers. Seems like some poppet or something stuck when it sat for a while.

If all checks fail for sticking relief valve or loss of prime on pump etc, there is a rare issue on some early Lxx30 series Kubotas shearing the pump drive off when operated at some extreme angles due to lack of lubrication in the drive assembly.

when you heard the whining noise would it do anything or did it just stop.everytime i hear that whine i know whats fixing to happen,an thats the hydro pump stops completely.

Problem solved -- just a poor hydraulic hose quick-connect connection at the BH. Invisible. Maybe a piece of grit kept it from seating cleanly.
