L3130 OWNERS

Looking to buy this week , 2005 L3130 DT , FEL ( LA723) with BH ( DH90 ) , R4 tires , 190 hrs , like new . It has FST shift ? Is that like shuttle shift ? ( sorry NEWBEE ) What size equipment do you pull with it ? I drove a L3400 HST last week and LOVED it . But this L3130 is $16,000 with BH , so its , Buy a newer tractor WITH HST and more HP , But NO Backhoe ,, Or LESS hp , NO HST , and a BH . I think a could use back hoe alot , if I had it . But I am not going to be using it all the time . So is a 3130 big enough for 6 ft equipment ? Or should I wait and just get a L3400 with no BH ? Grading driveways is what I do the most , dirt work , cutting grass, bushog, and back hoe work IF I ownwed one :D. Working on 2 different 3 acea lots , also do small side jobs

I had a 3130 and found that it had plenty of power to run a 6' box and 5' bush hog. Mine was a hydro, so the gear shift will deliver even more power to the ground. I'd buy it if you think it's the one for you.

THANKS for reply !! The L3400 was sweet , last week ( demo 2009 L3400 ) . But the backhoe would be something I could make some side money with  Just worried about the power, of the L3010 . I like thats its a GRAND L 3010 :D

I just traded my L3130 last year. Great Tractor. Mine was HST, so I am unfamiliar with FST. Several people on here have L3130 with backhoes. I used mine for mowing with 6' RFM, Tilling & clearing woods.

I use my friends L3130 and it pulls 6 ft grader blade and a box blade VERY well. Used it with a 6 foot landscape rake no problems. He has a 6 foot bush hog (I have not used it) and he says it works great.:thumbsup:

Just for info the FST is Fully Synchronized Transmission. They do have the shuttle so loader work is better with that. I have the GST that is Glide Shift and it has hydraulicly shifted gears and a wet clutch controlled by the ECU, I think is the best tradeoff for loader work and hauling logs or pulling the plow. Only time I feel I need more power is when trying road gear going up the hills with the backhoe on and brush hogging the deap and thick grass we have out here in the spring.

I have the next size up, the 3430. I agree with all the posts which indicated your tractor will have enough h.p. to handle the 6' implements. My tractor has only a few more horse power and it does everything I ask it to. My property is very hilly. FST is Fully Synchronized Transmission I also have a small Massey Ferguson 20 h.p. hydro tractor. The thing about hydros generally, at least the older ones, is that as they heat up, they deliver less h.p. to the wheels. I thought I wanted a hydro when I was shopping for the 3430, but I am glad I did not get one. The thing about the FST (Fully Synchronized Transmission) is that the gear drive delivers just about all of the h.p. to the wheels. The FST shifts like a car or truck in that you can go up or down through the gears within either low or high range using the clutch and shifting as opposed to the older model tractors where you basically had to stop beofore changing a gear. The hydro is probably safer in hilly areas, but as long as you do not try to shift while going down an incline with a heavy load, you should be fine. I will not go back to a hydro. The new models are great, but just not for me. The shuttle shift lets you select forward or backward with a single movement usinf a shift lever on the steering column as opposed to finding reverse in the shift pattern. Anyway, that's my two cents worth; YMMV! Good luck with it, you will love it.

I don't want to hi-jack this thread but could all you l3130 owners give me your opinion on the governor response of you tractors. I find mine just a little lazy compared to my other Kubota's and am curious if there is something wrong or if it is the nature of the beast. Also I think mine tends to smoke a little much but I have never run another so I have nothing to compare.:)
