I have two questions for owners of the L3130 HST. If you load up a 6 foot box blade and load it down, will the tractor spin all four wheels (4WD) on a dry surface (IN LOW GEAR)??

Would you have gotten the L3430 if you had to do it over again?? I'am gona get one or the other but the dealer only has the L3130 in stock at present.

Ramond has scared me a little...

Thanks,
Stumper

It could possibly spin one front and one rear unless you lock the rear. It might have trouble though with good traction even in low and loaded up spinning the tires.

I just used my 6 ft BB this past weekend under the conditions you describe. I initally was working in Lo 2WD, and when the rear wheel began to slip in switched to Lo 4WD. I had enough dirt in the BB that it was piled against the rear wheels and near the height of the rear pto shaft, and never spun the wheels.

I think the issue here is the proper use of the HST tranny. More foot does not equal more power to the ground. Less pedal pressure equals more torque to the ground. When I got the hang of this, I found that the 3130 has plenty of pull power, but obviously the L3430 would have more if the HST tranny is used correctly.

Your right, my L3830 can be stopped by my 72" box. It is a bit heavier then most of the standard ones folks get at 1000lbs. I just back off on the hydro pedal and it either goes or the tires will start spinning all the while I can tell the engine is loading up. With the rippers down, I do indeed have to lift the box up and then drop it as the condition of the soil changes. All in all though, the process is quite painless and frankly, enjoyable. I look at the amount of work I'm getting down with very little effort on my part and am still amazed. Tractors are good, yeah, very good.

I have used a 6' box blade on my L3130hst to grade my property and never had it stop or spin out the tires, even dragging an overflowing box up a hill. I have loaded ag tires which may help with the traction.

The only thing that spins my tires is digging the loader into a pile of dirt or rocks.

Correct me if i'm wrong but.{ i know you will} all you would gain with the 3430 is more PTO HP the weight and tires are the same as the 3130. Spinning the tires is a lack of traction, not HP. I love my 3130GST what ever you decide you will love it. Good Luck

I have used a 6" BB on my L3130HST and have had no problems pulling the blade full of dirt with the rippers in the ground. I would save the money and go with the 3130. The 3430 just does not give you much more. Having more HP but the same weight does not really help with the ground engaging type equipment. If you plan on using it to mow a lot then the few more HP would sure be nice in the tall grass.

I got the 3430HST because the dealer gave it to me at the pre-price increase cost. So I paid the same for a 3430 on the lot, as a 3130 that was yet to be delivered. The difference is so slight I would save the money and use the extra cash to buy another toy. I mean implement.

If you are truly worried about power skip the 3430 and go to the 3830, or on up to the 5030. But I am sure if you use your tractor the way you are supposed to and do not expect 5030 performance out of your 3130 you will be very happy.

I got my 3430 because it was a good deal at the time.

When going up a moderate grade in med range, the engine loads down. I wondered if this was hp, hydro or both....

My dealer loaned me a 50hp Kioti while the Kub was in for service. That had a manual trans and would walk up the same grade as if the grade was not there.....

So, hp or hydro? I still am not sure...

But, I love the 3430HST and it has met my needs thus far.....

You should be happy with either. If really concerned about power, find the funds to get up towards 50hp!

ls,
using a box blade you are obviously not on a paved surface.
The L3130 will not slip all 4 wheels because it is not possible to lock the front differential.
The L3130HST with R4's will slip three wheels in bank gravel when using the loader to dig the fresh bank. I did it to see if locking the rear diff would make any pushing difference to load the bucket more fully. It did not fill the bucket any more fully, the wheels slip.
My machine has the BH90 for rear ballast.
A note about slipping the wheels: you can cut chunks off the R4's when traction is lost. Don't slip the wheels, live within the machine limits.
Best of luck,
Martin
