My trusty L3130 HST Kub is now in its twelve year, bought in 2005, the very year I joined Tractorbynet. I joined for the same reason Im posting this, to get some solid advice. The Kubota has been phenomenally reliable. However, its exhibiting some discontent when I go into reverse when, sometimes but not always, the engine just dies. If Im quick and lift my heel off the throttle pedal the engine will recover and pick up revs to match where the manual throttle has been set.

Im at a loss as to how to go about fixing this. Any advise as to what this might be? Could it be linked to a sensor of some sort?

It sounds like something that could be caused by a seat safety switch. I'm not familiar with your tractor specifically but if it has a safety switch, maybe it's out of adjustment or starting to fail.

I had the same issue with my old L3430 HST and again on my MX5800 HST. The engine would cut out occasionally when mowing a slope or in reverse. The problem was initiated by my weight shifting in the seat as I turned to look backward. That caused the flaky seat interlock switch to activate. Replacing it solved the problem on both tractors.
