L3130 vs. L3800

Hi guys,

I know this isn't a good comparison... but these are my options.

I can get a 2011 50 hour L3800 for $14k. The guy bought the tractor for a contract he had, lost the contract, and needs to sell.

My other choice is a 2005 100 hour L3130 with the LA723 - asking $15k. Both are in excellent condition.

I am mowing 11 acres in the long run, starting with 4 or 5 this year... pulling a disc, that type of thing.

I am thinking the 3130 should be about 12k --

What do you guys suggest? At what price is the 3130 a better deal than the 3800?

You stated that the L3130 had a loader. Does the L3800 have a loader, and if not will you have use for a loader in the future? Yup, I should have specified - the L3800 has the loader. LA524.

I definitely need a loader.

I guess my question is - AFAIK the LA723 is a stronger loader than the LA524.. hard to find exact specs on the LA723.

Am I better served with the LA723 and 7 more HP, or the newer L3800? I think the L3130 would have issues with a 6' cutter... so that does limit me a bit.. but I'd probably only pull a 5'

The l3130 is much more tractor with a lot more capable loader. In my opinion it is a no brainer in favor of the 3130:thumbsup:

Are they both HST?I had a L3130 for four years and 400 hrs.Great machine.Did anything I asked,two bottom plows,six ft. snow plow,5ft.bush-hog,tiller ect.The L3130 is a Grand L..more standard features.Kubota loaders are rated at approximately the number (L723)x 2.2(Kilo) for lift capacity.A 2005 model with 100 hrs is nothing,as new.

I'm inclined to agree with kuboman as the 3130 is a Grand L vs the L. The Grand L has a superior 3PH, extendable lower links, tilt steering and is a heavier built tractor. I much prefer the steering linkage as well. It is also more likely to have the SSQA, though maybe this one doesn't.

For me at least, the amenities of the Grand L outweighs the extra HP of the 3800, but different strokes...

I think the 3130 is a much more heavier tractor. Which was a consideration for me. I could not haul it around with my truck. Just something to think about. If I was not hauling my L2800 (same weight as the 3800) I would have traded for the L3130. :thumbsup:

I'd go with the 3130. Lot beefier machine with the added loader capacity. I may be biased because I have a 3130 but if I had my choice between the 2 it would be hands down for the Grand L...

Aside from independent PTO, tilt steering, extendable 3pt arms, and joystick location, and HD front axle - what are the features in the Grand L?

Not minimizing those features, just trying to get all of the ones I'm aware of out there.
