B2650,
A couple weeks ago I noticed that the fuel bowl on my tractor was covered in fuel and very small drips. Never saw this before and about one month before I was mowing some very dusty weeds and the chaff didn't stick. Thought this was kinda funny so I pulled the bowl off. Some how some way this wasn't leaking missing the O-ring that goes between the bowl and the housing. I put every thing back and turned the fuel back on and made sure it would start. I did the bleeding shown in the manual. No problem.

Go the O-ring and put in in today. Went through the bleeding again, this time the tractor is running very rough and keep stalling. I have pulled the bowl and filter off a couple of times and everything seems good, I have fuel flow. Tried beleeding several more times. One time it ran good for about 15-20 second then started running rough and quit again.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the inner O ring; seems someone had a similar problem not long ago.

Checked the inner for what? It is in place lucky for that.

As I have been going over the drawings I see that not only was the outer O-ring missing, but a spring also that goes under the filter. I thought it was just the inner O-ring that hold it in place, I missed that when I looked it over in the manual.

I have to go to the machinery dealer tomorrow anyway. I think I'm going to buy a new filter and get a spring.

I bought the tractor with 100 hours on it and they told me it was serviced when they took it in. I can understand missing one item but both?

I don't think any harm could come from it due to the filter is up in good shape w/out the spring. O at least it looks that way with the bowl empty of fuel.

The problem is air being sucked into the
fuel system and a poor seal and then the
tractor will not run properly for you.

I believe the person posted that he had two inner rings. The inner ring doesn't usually come off with the filter, so he thought there wasn't one and put a second on.

I have extra O rings on hand, but haven't had to use one yet. Without the spring in the bottom, I don't think your fuel will be filtered.

I have a 5030, but it works the same as the L40 models.

Finally got it running after a large amount of messing around with it.

Followed the steps listed from the link below (basically the way I have done other systems) several times and it finally worked. For some reason had a large amount of air in the line for the middle cylinder. Even after I got it running it still ran rough for a few minutes then it seemed to smooth out.
