L3240 rotary cutter

Am looking to purchasing a new 3240. Does anyone have any experience with using a Bush Hog 285 cutter with this tractor? Originally, was looking at the SQ160, but really like the sound of the 285. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It'll handle any 5' cutter.

I got a 5' land pride with my L3800 and am very pleased with it.

As long as you have the FEL on, any hog will do. If you're going to shred without the FEL on, then consider some front ballast if you go heavy on the cutter. Mine handles a Woods BB60 fine without the FEL.

I have a SQ160 with about 700hrs of use.Started with a L3130 and now use it behind my L4240.It has been very good,has shear pin protection and I have only sheared two pins.I could use a larger one now but until this one gives me problems I will continue to use it.

I run an old Ford 6' hog on my L3940 without front ballast, is a little light on the front, but it handles just fine. Philip.

It will spin it, question is will it lift it. The BH 280's are heavy cutters, I know they're listed as medium duty but their as heavy as most hd cutters on the market. I've got a 286 that I use on my 40hp NH and it makes the front wheels light when on hills even with a heavy hoodguard and weights on front. You should be fine though as long as you get a couple hundred pounds of suitcase weights or if you have an FEL.
