L3200
Looking at buying a tractor in the very near future and I had pretty much settled on the L3301. As I was going to a couple different dealers I had one that just about refused to want to sell me one said it was no good because it was underpowered and the regen happens so often I would just get frustrated with it and i will not be happy with it. He is an honest guy this is about the only person I have heard this from. He recommended the 2501 but that just seems underpowered for what I'm looking for. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 3350 and now that I have run it for awhile I really like it. Plenty of power for me. The regens happen every 20 hours or so. Depends on how you run it as to regen timing. Keep the rpms up and exhaust hot to increase time between regens

While there have been regen issues with some Kubota models, I don't recall hearing a peep from new 3303/3901 owners on this site. And there are enough new owners that we would have heard something by now if there were problems.

If you could find an older L3200, that is the best of both worlds. But I bet new inventory is scarce to nonexistent by now.

The L2501 is probably fine for many uses, but for ground engaging work I wouldn't want only 25HP in that size/weight tractor. My L3200 is adequately powered, but could definitely use more guts for some tasks. I couldn't imagine having 7HP less.

My guess is that (would love to hear what it really works out to be) the L2501 is 1.6 Liter and 59.2 # torque is not that far from the L3200. The L3200 is only 1.5 Liter but with 59.8 # torque. The rating for the L2501 is at 2200 rpms... vs. 2800 for the L3200.

You need to test drive both! I assume the dealer doesn't have L3301 to sell and might have a couple L2501... I can't see him being "honest", with the comment he said about regen...

I have 2 3301 tractors
1at work has had 2 regens with 54 hrs no on it
One at home with 35 hrs and no regens
When they happened at work I didn't even know it except a different smell and the light
I don't think there is anything bad about that tractor

I did realize that the 2501 is a bigger engine than the l3200 so I figured torque would be up some but reading some of the specs the cruising speed it cut down and the hydraulic flow as well. I would like to test drive one but how much can you really tell cruising around a parking lot. I'd like to be able to do some brush hogging or something that puts a strain on it to see how it handles that.

That's what I keep hearing as far as regen hours but this guy made it seem like it was constant and when it did happen you had no power. 33hp is what I would like to have with you 39hp in the back of my mind. To drop down 25hp really just isn't what I'm looking for.

Love my 3901 no regen problems probably could have been fine with the 3301.

I think I am going to go with the 3301. Looking to brush hog with it and I'm going to get front remotes for a grapple. Seems about the perfect size tractor to get down in the woods and clear brush with.

I have a L3301. Only one regen so far, occurred at 21 hours. I haven't put much load on it besides snow blowing. I could fill a 64" blower completely with snow and not have the engine struggle at all. If anything, for me, I probably could have went with the 2501 and still had plenty of power. Strange he says the 3301 is under powered then suggests the 2501.

My L3200 has plenty of HP 80% of the time. When running a tiller & occasionally when mowing really heavy grass. The rest of the time I'm traction limited. I regret not getting a L3900 a bit, but not $2k worth, maybe not even $1k worth.

I've actually started looking for an l3200 or a l3800. Haven't had time to make it to the dealer to buy a tractor so it got me thinking to look for low hour used one. If it wasn't for the emissions I would probably have one by now but it keeps making me second guess it

If I remember correctly, you *might* get a jerky 3 point hitch with the older L3200/L3800... don't forget to try it before you buy.

Put something heavy on the 3pt & lift in small increments (like grading with a box blade) to check if the 3pt is jerky. Mine is & its annoying, but not enough to change my decision on the L3200 being the best value.

All L3200/3800/4600 have the jerky 3-pt. The real reason to test is to see if you can live with it. For my uses, it's so minor it really doesn't matter at all. On earlier L models, it was a lot worse though.

Well I think my dealer was able to hunt down an l3200. Little bit cheaper and no emissions and still new.

The dealer found me a L3200. They had it shipped in from over 400 miles away. Just got to my dealer yesterday and I went after work to check it out. Exactly what I was looking for. Just have to wait for them to mount the loader and backhoe and cruise and I'll have myself a tractor finally.

Congrats.... Thanks for the update, it's a good old tractor. :drink: Did you get Ag or Industrial tires?
