I have an L3400 and purchased a ARPS 80 backhoe for the 3pt hitch. I am having little luck getting it to work. I am trying to tie in and have both the FEL and the backhoe inline. Is this possible? I have installed two T's for the implement in and out. If I hook up the hoe by itself it works, if the loader is on by itself it works. Put the two in together and neither works. Is it a total flow problem, a plumbing problem, or a fluid problem???

I am way new to hydraulics. I graduated to this tractor from a TO30. Do you have a diagram for this? On the side of the L3400 is a block with a power beyond port a tank port and a pump port all plumbed into the loader valve. This is where I Td from. I took the power beyond port to backhoe in and the pump port to backhoe return. All help is greatly needed and deeply appreciated.

Your hydraulics need to be hooked in series, not parallel. You cannot use 'Ts' on the pressure side..... only on the return to the sump. You should use the power beyond line coming out of your loader valve to power the hoe. Up at the top of the page you will find a 'search' function. If you use words like 'power beyond', 'parallel', 'backhoe hydraulics' and such, you will find hours of reading on the subject. Its not terribly difficult to figure out with a little reasearch, and we will be happy to assist if we can.

Thanks for the help. I have an L3400 DT but it appears the aux. hydraulic block is the same. I still have trouble following the drawings in the attachment. I guess the top one is factory and the bottom is the "new"?

So from aux block to loader, out of loader and instead of returning to block into hoe, out of hoe to implement return at block? The hoe only has in and out, no tank. I assume the loader joystick then has flow in/out at all times as an open circuit?

Not to sound dumb here but the fluid must make a circle, one direction in order to complete a circuit??? Excluding the tank return, since only the loader has this?

just a friendly reminder that 3pt mounting a backhoe on a compact is playing with fire. Be careful! One wrong move and you may have two 2WD Kubota's rather than one 4WD.

Well aware of the danger with it. Just for light trench work and planting a few trees. No stumps or anything heavy. Thanks for the reminder.

Maybe this image will help you:

Ok, obviously I'm not smart enough to link images, so here's a link to the image :)

I follow the pic but the hoe only has two hoses. In:eek:ut no tank. I think the line in the pic that says to spool valve is the in to the hoe. I am going to try this series block to loader from loader power beyond to hoe in. Hoe out to from implement and leave the tank port from the loader only. Does this make sense?
