Ballast L3400, LA463 Grill Guard and Suitcase Weights

Is anyone out there using Kubota suitcase weights on their L2800/L3400 with their standard LA463 Grill Guard?

I spoke with my dealer and they said Kubota claims this guard isn't designed for hanging weights on, even though it looks just like an L series weight bracket but with four mounting holes instead of five.

I was wondering if anyone had a model # for weights that are a perfect fit?

I have the L4400 w/ the same type grill guard. It has 4 holes and space for four weights. I remove the loader and install the weights when I use my brush cutter. I have not been made aware of any limitation, other than you can not use the weights and loader together do to limited clearance. I do know the standard bumper can hold seven weights. I have had no issues. Make sure you bolt them down, as the will bounce in the guard.

Use 55 pound weights. I would think the dealer would have them.

I had been trying to figure out what guard came with the LA463 but between Kubota telling my dealer it wasn't designed for hanging weights on and only a "guard kit" number in the parts manual I couldn't determine if or which weights would work.

Now that Mikeeemo pointed it out I confirmed that the standard grill guard with the LA703 is the L2233A, as it is with several other loader models. For some, they recommend that guard for use with (4) 55# BL8060-1 weights. Not for all though, possibly due to the clearance issue that Mikeeemo mentioned.

After a quick cross reference I was able to see that the LA703 and LA463 "guard kit" #'s are identical... problem solved!
