Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
Called the dealer to ensure filters/fluids were in stock for my 50 hour service.

Asked him if the shop manual for the L3400 was in stock too as I'd like to pick it up. It's like he's never heard of the thing or ever sold it before. He says it will have to be reprinted by Kubota and will be no less than $300 or $400.

None of the dealers around here even know or care to look up what the 50 hour service entails. One tells me that he didn't think i had to change the fluids - just the filters.

What is up with these guys? I'm already feeling better that I am planning to tackle the 50 hr myself even though I know squat about anything mechanical. At least I know how to read!

I was in the same boat, the 50hr. service scared the fluids out of me.

I just changed EVERYTHING period. I never like the original fluids from any manufacturer in my equipment longer than I have to. I always go high end synthetics, just works for me in the 117 plus temps.

Some people are real **** about getting every single drop of old fluid out, I'm not one of them. Just open up the drain plugs on the hydro, and engine old drain and put in new filters. My air filters were fine so I left them, till the next time, but did blow them out.

i did fins a huge difference in regular hydro fluid and super hydro fluid, mine was an hst and seemed to grab better with the super.

Grease everything you can well, and ofter, check water and coolant no need to change.

Take you time all will be fine.

If you want the shop manual just order it from here $50, i got mine here for B3030 , they have the L3400 too. I do my fluids and found all the info i needed in my operation manual, although shop manual good to have around for more detail.

let me know how it goes canoetrpr, I really like their website and would be more than happy to give them some business.

Hi Dan: Their website says that they do international shipping and my order was accepted.

Heck maybe I should have ordered the filters etc. for my 50 hour service too cause I'm sure that when I go to pick them up tomorrow at the local dealer I'll pay too much. Ah well... at least I'll be able to get my service done on the weekend so long as enough info. is in the operators manual.

I'll be happy to give them my future parts business.

Yea we do. Usually the website will take the order just fine, somtimes it chokes or gives odd shipping rates for addresses outside the US. If it gives you any trouble just call the parts hotline number on the website and the guys will help you out.

I did the 50hr service on my L4400 myself. It isn't hard and it helps familiarize yourself with the tractor.

I also got shop manual and parts manual from Messicks and studied the heck out of them. I recommend you do the same. Its good to know how these things work, at least generally, and how to handle the minor problems.

Of course there are a couple of places in my L4400 manual that suggest that you MAKE certain tools to work on the tractor! I won't be digging that deep into my L4400.

Hopefully your dealer was just talking out his backside and being totally clueless. But in that case he should have said he will look up the price, a total out of the ball park statement like that is a bad business practice.
