Well it's been over a week now, tell us more! I got the same setup except the BH, I have a WR Long Grapple also. Been toying with the idea of the BH but I keep holding back. Some people tell me the 3400 is not big enough to do stumps and if I do I'll be wasting a lot of time/fuel, while others tell me to go for it.

Never owned a BH, I change implements often, how difficult is it to take on and off. It's a pain for me changing the BB and Rake a few times a day I worry about never wanting to take the BH off and in turn other jobs with the rake or BB never getting done.

I guess it would depen upon how big the stumps are.
I have the L2800 BH75 and have dug up plenty of Mesquite, Honey Locus and a few other spiecies of trees.

Removing/installing Bh is not hard but It would get old doing it several times a day.
I would leave mine on for days or weeks at a time till I thought I was done for awhile.

70-80ft Pine trees in Carolina clay, trunks are about 12in in dia.

I guess I could use the BH as a project tool and not "accessory" hooking it up when needed and planning multiple projects around it so it would stay hooked up for a few weeks.

My other concern is storage, I was spoiled with a 1600sq ft garage for many years, now I got just a 2 car garage full of moving boxes!
I hate leaving my tractor and implements outside but I got no other choice, even if I had the money to build a barn right now the only spot I could build one large enough is right smack dab in front of the house and that would be with LOTS of fill and dozer work!

12" trunks shouldn't be a problem.

Yes after you get and area cleared except for the stumps is when you put the hoe on and dig stumps till you run out of stumps. The stumps burn better when they are on top of the rest of the burn pile.

I would like to hear what you two think about the grapple. I am going to be getting one soon. So far I am leaning toward the Millonzi 60". Was there a reason you chose the WR Long? They both seem to be nice grapples but I questioned how well I would b able to clean up debri from a construction site as the WR Long does not look like you could tilt it to get under much. Any way you slice it that is one nice setup!

The dealer suggested it better than a 4N1 bucket that I was thinking of. I do like the grapple and it does the job for me. Brands...well this is my first tractor so I can't say much about other brands. 2 things I do not like at all are.

Within a few weeks one of the lower teeth bent a bit to one side. Looks like it cracked at the weld a LITTLE. It's OK left it that way till I buy my own buzz box.

Paint..started flaking off in a few months. This is an outdoor tool, prep should have been better. Several spots now are brown primer and the black paint comes off in chunks. Really for a product of this cost (Long is proud of their products and the price shows it) this should have been powder coated and not painted.

I am pleased with the Grapple's performance. The only change that I would like is for the electric control valve to have a check valve.

Moving large rocks, logs etc. with the bucket curled under for control, sometimes the weight of the object overcomes the hydraulics and the lower "Jaw" loosens and I have dropped a few "Loads".

I learned to hit the electric valve to "close" position a few times to make sure the grapple holds the load while traveling from point "A" to point "B"

As far as the paint; this thing is used for grabbing, grubbing, pushing roots, pushing rocks, and my paint was scratched the first two minutes of use.

Perhaps a cheap can of spray paint for touch-up !!!!!!!

So I need touch-up to Grapple, box blade, scraper blade, chipper, front loader bucket, back-hoe, grille guard, wheel rims, sub frame and even the roll bar!

(Forgot to mention my Boots need touch up also)

I agree...the check valve would be nice. It has not been too much trouble BUT yes I have dropped a stump or boulder or two at times. Large stumps loaded with wet clay can get a bit heavy.

I did not mean the paint on the "working" section of the grapple it would be silly to think that would hold paint for very long, that was obvious the first time I went out with it BUT I am speaking about portions that do not even see any contact like the pistions and back of the top bar.

For the extra cost to purchase a long and the ease and cost of powder coating in this day and age I would have expeced some durable powder coating instead of a conventional paint. Heck I can power coat motorcycle parts myself, the only limitation is the size of my oven. A manufacturer like Long could support powerder coat easly. But again I like the grapple, it's just if I had to pick anything wrong it would be the valve and finish.

I find my backhoe a bit of a pain to get on and off. I'm getting better, but its still 20 minutes. So backhoe projects get lumped together - it's not a "drop and change" attachment.

quick attach stuff like my grapple, on the other hand, sometimes takes me upwards of 15 seconds to put on and off :D

I got to agree on the "bad tool disorder" :) Wonder where you keep so many of them. I don't mind the basics outside but some of the fancy stuff I would like inside.

It's good to hear that is's only about 20 minutes, I guess that is not bad at all as long as you plan ahead. Right now I quite often run out for about 30-40 minutes and rake or box blade after work but as long as I get all of that done before I hook up the BH it won't be a big deal. I am just waiting for that "sweet deal" to show up at my door where I can have one old tractor for rake, box, grapple and my 3400 for the bucket and BH. I'll be waiting awhile
