L3400 Hydro
The seat switch on my tractor is inconsistent in performance.
Has anybody else noticed an issue? A brief explanation of the
intended operation logic/sequence would also be appreciated. After mowing Saturday the tractor would not start. O volts to starter.
I unplugged the seat switch and fiddled with it a bit; (have been suspecting an issue for a while now) and the tractor started. Any comments would be appreciated.

Have not had any problems with my seat switch. The only thing I have noticed is that the ignition key is pretty close between the glow plug position and cranking. Now I hold the glow plug position and then just push the clutch pedal and she starts right up. Other than that I seem to hit crank to soon unless you are very careful. Good luck. Brian

I have a 2005 3400HST. I'm taking it in tomorrow for the 50 hour service. Sometimes when i get off the tractor in idle position it shuts itself off and sometimes it continues idling. I'm gonna have them check it tomorrow

That is because the glow plug heater position is counterclockwise, it is also activated in the start position.
I did the same thing when I first bought my L2800.
Now that you know this new information you won't need to operate the clutch for glow plug operation /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I fixed my seat switch with a zip tie, every now an then the hydro pedal is not positioned correctly for the starter to engage but that is easily corrected with a little foot pressure.

I've got an L3400 gear drive but I'm sure the seat switch operation is similar. If my tractor is in neutral and the pto is turned off I can get off the tractor and still have it running. The same setup is required to start the tractor. If I'm not in neutral, or if the pto is engaged the engine will turn off if I get off, or not start when I first get on.
