I'm doing the 800 hour transmission service on my 2006 L3430 HST and the manual that came with it shows 4 drain plugs. One on each brake housing, one at the differential and one further forward. I have taken the first 3 out and drained that fluid. There is no regular drain plug further forward under this tractor. There is a socket type plug but I'm not sure what it is. This same plug is discussed in another thread from a few years ago on a bigger tractor....... https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...in.html?highlight=Kubota+L3430+HST+drain+plug

So.....does my 2006 tractor have 3 or 4 drain plugs for the transmission/hydraulic fluid? This socket plug the plug that I'm wondering about.....and not the one with the split pin protruding......

OK, after some deeper research I have found a shop manual diagram that shows that the socket plug in my picture IS the 4th drain plug on my tractor. Hopefully this will help others in locating the 4th drain plug that some may not be aware of.

I bought three brand new belly mowers for L series machines that my dealer wanted to get out of his stock. My friend turned around and sold them individually and made a few thousand $.

In the mounting instructions and parts were the requirement to change from a protruding drain plug to a flush style for reasons of mower hardware clearance.

So, I'm guessing the 4 threaded holes (3 still have plugs in them) are for belly mount thus the flush plug requirement. This sounds logical to me and I'll find the right size Allen tool today to get it out.

See the added shop diagram in my first post. The flush/socket type plug IS the 4th drain plug. Thanks for the input!
