I just installed a new hydraulic thumb on my L35 and still have to add in the hydraulic control valve and hoses. In looking at the valve bank for the backhoe I do see that there is a plug on the bottom of the first section. This is the section with the hydraulic feed and return lines. Does anyone know if this could be a "power beyond" port, or if there is an insert that would make it a power beyond port?

Thanks,
Steve.

It is possible that there is a PB port available, but I doubt it. These hoes were never
designed for AUX hydraulics like a thumb. Kubota did not sell any hyd thumb retrofit kit
that I am aware of for the older L35 or b21.

So that leaves the bigger question: what hyd valve did you get for the thumb? The
way I would do it is get an AUX valve that itself has PB and put it before the hoe
valve stack. Or use solenoid diverter(s).

Why not use a diverter valve and divert fluid from one of the outriggers. The out rigger should stay in place while you are using the thumb.

You also need a relief valve on the thumb cyl in case the bucket cyl tries to overcome the thumb cyl.

I actually bought a valve you recommended J_J and in looking for where to mount it saw this potential port I had not seen before so figured I would ask about it.
Also the power beyond sleeve is backordered. I will wait for it and proceed as suggested putting the new valve prior. Thanks.

I finally got the power beyond plug that was backordered and will be connecting my hydraulic thumb this weekend. Does anyone know what has to be done in terms of filling and bleeding the hydraulic system on a new install of a hydraulic thumb on a Kubota. It is a pretty big 3" bore cylinder that was added.

Should if try to fill the cylinder before connecting?

Do I need to crack fittings or anything to get the air out of the cylinder or lines? If so do I need to make the cylinder the highest point?

Or do I remove the cylinder, lay it on the ground to make it the lowest point and cycle it a few times?

Thanks,
Steve.

Nothing special. When you fully articulate each circuit, the air works itself out.

Steve where did you buy your thumb for your L39? I'm trying to install one on my L39 also.
Thanks Chris

Chris,

I bought mine for my L45 from Michigan Iron and Equipment. Great guys to work with!

I am pretty sure Kubota offered a thumb for the BT900, there is the mounting holes for the foot operated pedal assembly on mine.
