First time trying to use the backhoe on the L35 after a long cold winter. Worked fine when I put it away. Did use the tractor to move snow in the winter but did not use the backhoe, although it did remain attached. All the other backhoe functions work fine and seem to have the proper strength but I can't move either stabilizer. The valves seem to be working, everything sounds like it is working and I can even see the hoses jump a little but neither one moves at all. I even hooked a ratchet strap to the stabilizer to try and help it move activating the valve even with the engine revved up high but no good. Both seem to be frozen. 3pt lever is correct. Anything I could be missing? I am pretty new to tractors. Since there are only the two hoses connecting the backhoe I imagine all functions are controlled from the same pump. Just seems strange that it is both? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve.

All I can think of is to uncouple and recouple the hoses. On my 2620 they have a warning that basically states to never use the TPH lever while the bh is connected otherwise damage may occur. Do you think maybe the thp lever got moved over the winter and caused some problems?

Sounds like a mechanical issue. The pivot pins may be corroded and seized up. You will probably have to pull the pins in the stabilizers and clean them.

Does the L35 have locking pins on the stabs for transport?

Are the valves actually opening when you pull the lever. I would remove the access panel and check for all connections and functions as a first response.

The BT900's main control valve assembly has 2 "lockout valves" on each stabilizer valve (item 470 on the Kub Corp parts diagram) - I'm guessing they are to prevent cylinder drift or may be pilot-operated checks to prevent unintended motion with the machine detached. Not sure how they might be involved here - need to get a look at a BT900 workshop manual and/or hydraulic diagram. Hope somebody else chimes in who knows more about how they function. Dick B

The lockout valves are essentially a pilot operated check to prevent drift and if they are stuck, can prevent oil entering or exiting the cylinder locking the stabilizer in its current position. Cycling the valve in both directions may free up the lockout valve. You should be able to unscrew the lock out valve assembly on each side of the valve and make sure it is clean and the poppets move freely. I have not looked at the parts diagram, but the lockout valve should be between the main valve spool and the work ports.

Thanks all. Believe it or not it was mud with small rocks in it all dried up near the outbound pivot. I chipped it away and all was good. Hard to believe since I had been hitting them with a sledge and pulling on them with a ratchet strap while activating hydraulics and they would not budge a millimeter. Chipped away the mud and good as new!
Thanks,
Steve.
