Group,
It was time to speak to the experts.
I bought a grapple and an electric over hydraulic control for my L35. The grapple went on easy considering mine does not have a quick connect.
The control is the issue. I called my dealer, he stated he had one that he had ordered but the buyer decided he did not want it so he would like to get ride of it instead of carry it. He check with wr long and called me back to let me know that it would fit my loader. I was at work so I sent my son to pick it up. Well when I got it did not look entirely complete but I had nothing to compare it too and there where no directions.
I called wr long today and had them fax me a set of directions that would have come with the loader valve. I have to say I am more confused now than I was before. The instructions do not look like the valve that I have. So what I need is for some one who has installed one of these identify the one I have and let me know if this is what they installed. Second, can I get some info as to how this unit is plumbed. The marking on the valve body do not match the instructions at all.
Lastly how is this wired into the tractor. The instructions show a type of relay block, should this have come with the tractor or is this part of the tractor.

I appreciate your help.
Brian

Gentlemen,

Since it appears that there was no working knowledge I was forced to take matters into my own hands.

I called WR Long and they were able to fax me a copy of the directions as well as explain to me all the minor details to look our for.
I was able to get it hooked up and working today. I have to say that this is the cats meow. I was a little confused at first, I was assuming that the button fired the solenods but in fact you have to hold the button to operate the grapple.
If any others out there need this information I now have and can forward it to the next guy.
Also something to think about, when I purchased the grapple I thought about getting the 60 inch. When I went to purchase the grapple Johnny at Malonzi explained that I might not want to do this. He explained the weight difference and explained that the 48 would probably be the choice.
Now that I have the 48 and have a day of use I would have to agree. The fact that the grapple sits out in front farther away from the pivot point than the dirt bucket and the grapple weighs more, the lighter grapple seems to be more suited. I can not complain about the power either, I picked up some pretty big stumps and rocks today with out any issue.

Over all I am very happy with the grapple and the controls, I would recommend!!!

Once I got the right directions the installation was pretty straight forward. Took maybe two hours with no help. Keep in mind that while trying to find some directions I found out that this is a very early version of the WR Long set up. The one they currently sell is some what different and from what they explained to me it is simpler to install. The only issue that I discovered once I started using the grapple was an interference between the solinoid block and the saftey rod that does not let you tip the bucket back to far when the loader is all the way in the air. I got around this buy taking the bar off for now. I think I can get around this by placing a small bend in the rod so that it will clear. When routing the hoses you need to keep in mind all the different positions that they may be in as the loader travels. Also make sure the hoses coming off the grapple going to the solinoid are long enough. I thought I had the lines way to long but once installed and I operated the unit I found that the lines were nearly to short.

I gave the unit an all day work out today and I have to tell you this is worth the price of admission. I got more work done in one day than I ever imagined. The grapple is pretty tough. I was concerned about bending a tine or racking the moving grapple but try as I might it did not even hardly scratch the paint. I realized that you can turn the grapple up and place the tines in the ground and comb the ground removing debris, sort of like a rake. All in all I walked away from this cheaper than most, 780 for the grapple, 150 for shipping to my work, 300 for the controls, and 90 for two lines. My wife was having a heart attack over the money I spent until she came home yesterday and saw that I completely cleared about a acre. She then had a change of heart.

I will post some pics if any one would like to see or needs to see.

Thanks Brian, the WR Long valve kit is on my list of must haves. It sounds like something I can install myself which is good news. Your dealer did you pretty well at $300 for the WR Long set up. It runs about $500 now.

Welcome to the club! I haven't had my bucket on my loader since I got my Millonzi grapple! I'm thinking I may have to put the bucket on soon, though. I need to move some sand, and the grapple just isn't suited to that job very well. :D

Later,

BR

Pictures you ask, pictures you get.

Not the best but they will have to do. Johnny from Milonzi explained to me that claw of the grapple is a new design and they will look like this from now on.
Let me know if there are any questions. The last one is of my buddy.
