Just wanted to share my experience of changeing the Hydro & HST filters on my Grand L 3540, it had 47.9 hours on the clock. I wanted to do the 50 hour before the weather changed for the worst up here in the Great North East. So I Ordered all the Kubota OEM filters from Messick's and shipping was fast and at a fair price. First step of course was to gather all the filter removal wrenches just to see what one worked best as others have posted these filters are a bear to come off. I used a strap wrench with a 1/2" breaker bar and it was the winner, tight but they broke free just fine. Got the new filters all ready to swap with old ones. After reading much about the Dry Vac trick I was going to give it a try, had boss,(wife) hold nozzle of vac in fill hole while I finished spinning off old filters, one at a time starting with Hydro. Took off filter as vac was turned on, had very fine metal partials attached to magnet ring on filter, wiped off mounting pad and installed new filter, and went on to the HST. I did not loose hardly any oil other then what was in filters, which I added. Kudos to other TBN members who used and suggested that Great Tip!! Oh I have to say I didn't realize that the IntelliPanel on the Grand L's showed "Service Inspect" at 52.9 hours, just incase U forgot to do the 50 hour service on your Grand L. I thought that was pretty neat feature that of I never read as part of the maintenance manual, my bad. DevilDog
