This has happened half dozen times in the 1k hours I’ve put on my machine. I can’t figure out what holds this fitting going to fuel pump in. A certain orientation maybe or is it pressed in and not even supposed to swivel? Once I push it back in it eventually vibrates apart and I’m over it.

I can’t even fathom why it was engineered this way vs a stationary barbed fitting since it connects to rubber line

Appears to be a press fit. On top of that looks to be plastic on the fitting, so expansion and contraction is going to cause some kind of failure regardless of what is done on your end. Branson uses something similar but both parts are made of the same material and they use some type of adhesive. They fail in the same manner.

I assume the picture you show is with the elbow loose and slightly out of the fuel pump.
Never had such an issue. Since it has been a chronic nuisance to you, I'd suggest threading the hole in fuel pump and screwing in a barb fitting that you can clamp the line to. Of course you would want to plug the hole somehow or flush it awfully well after the threading process to avoid filings getting in the fuel stream.

The other route would be to get a new Kubota standard part elbow, clean the heck out of the hole in the pump and then rough it up inside with a rasp or suitable tool or sandpaper and then force the elbow back in the hole with "super glue" on it...by super glue I mean the strongest metal-to-plastic adhesive you could find.

Possibly a barb could be brazed in there but that seems like some kind of overkill...

It is a picture of the fuel filter with the fitting going to the fuel pump.

I do not believe it to be plastic, it should be metal

I was just going with what I saw in your photo. Gotta love angles and lighting. My single cousin complains about that problem rather regularly lol.

The original picture certainly looks plastic. If it is metal you could always drill a hole in the pump housing and use a set screw to secure the metal elbow but that seems like something no one should have to do.

Yeah, if there is enough to drill it out to 21/64 I would tap it for 1/8 NPT, throw a barb in it, clean it out and be done.

Friction fit piece, maybe put some sealer that is resistant to diesel and drive it back in. Generic version on Ebay without the Kubota box is about $50

Recently purchased ff assembly from Kubota for my L4740; $57.00 (Iirc) & it came with a filter to boot.
