My dealer is setting up the machine. He says they are at the widest right now with R4 and outside to outside is 76? This seems too wide for a L3560. I was thinking 72 would be good to shoot for. What do you guys think?

Depends on what you are going to do with your tractor and where it will be done. 4 inches may be insignificant or a problem.

I have a wooded lot, so maneuvering between trees is important. On the other hand, I do have some slopes to contend with and the width would be nice for stability. Looking for suggestions for a happy medium on rear tire width.

The tractor will be used with a grapple for moving brush, dead trees, and general cleanup. I also have about 120’ long x 6’ tall retaining wall to build. I have the heavier L805 loader as well and loaded tires. This is a ROPS model......no cab to contribute to a higher center of gravity.

Leave it wide. It will be more stable and the 4 inches of clearance in the woods will not be missed if you never have it.

Probably good advice. I can always take it down to 72” if I need to. Getting acquainted with the tractor at its widest setting certainly isn’t a bad idea. Thank you.

Mine were set at 70-ish inches and I haven't had any problems after adding wheel-weights. Before that the backend would occasionally get a bit light with just the 805 loader on the front when going down an incline (mowing in an Alabama ditch). Not sure I've ever had lateral stability issues..... though other than mowing along the road in the ditches I'm generally not working on slopes either.

Personally the biggest reason I like having it at that width is it allows 6ft implements to fully cover the tire tracks - though the tractor can handle a 1000lb 7ft disk harrow (on level ground at least) without an issue, and the 6ft box blade I have has almost been too easy to pull at times (even when full/overflowing).

My L4060HSTC is 72" on the outside of the R4s give or take an inch & some sidewall bulge. I think I can go 1 notch wider, but would need to look at the rims to be sure. I forget if my tires are a hair bigger than the ones on the L3560.

I'd recomend 72" for a few reasons. It's good for stability being wider. Mostly to match impliments though. 72" is a common impliment width & you generally want the impliment to match your width or be a hair wider to cover your tracks. I have a 60" rototiller & LPGS. They work fine, but I wish they were a foot wider to match my tire tracks.
