Greetings....

I have a Kubota L3800 HST.

Today I bought a King Kutter 5' tiller. It was drizzling rain when I got home, and I haven't even taken it off the trailer yet.

Just wondering if anyone else has used the KK tiller with a L3400 or L3800.

Question: Did you have to Cutdown the PTO Shaft? Or did it work, right out of the "box"???

Thanks in Adavance!

Not sure this will help but I had a landpride tiller... Had to cut the shaft.

I too just brought home a 5' KK II. But I want to switch it between my B7610 and my M4700.
The manual says each section should end 3" short of the u-joint and should have a MINIMUM of 6" overlap.

I figure I might have to get another shaft.

Ok... Using Ted's (everything attachments video) method of measuring for PTO Shaft Length, I came up with the following #'s:

From the hole in PTO shaft on the tractor - to the end of the PTO shaft on the tiller is 31 1/2"

The length of the PTO shaft (all the way closed) is 36 1/2"

So if my thinking is correct, I would need to cut 7 inches off both side of the PTO shaft.
(5 inches to get down to the distance between tractor and tiller, and another 2 inches for the safe amount required for the tiller being raised and lower.)

DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT? (Sure seems like a lot to have to cut off)

push your PTO all the way collapsed then take a sharpie and mark a line from the edge of one pto cover to the other. Mount unit to tractor connect pto, raise 3 point all the way up and check distance from marked line to edge of cover.

Hopefully I am not doing anything wrong. Our tractors should be comparable in size. (L3540) I didn't cut mine and it worked perfect. Raised and lowered. I have a few hours on it and it worked fantastic. I am sure I could afford to loose a few inches (PTO shaft that is) but why fix what's not broken. Enlighten me if I am wrong.

As long as your PTO shaft doesn't "Bottom Out", you should be fine... If it DOES, it could damage your tractor and/or implement.

IIRC the hole in a tractors pto shaft and the cutout for spring pin are in a different location on the tractor pto shaft. Also were both shafts level IE in a straight line when measurement was taken?
