Sometimes when I go to start my tractor, I turn the key and nothing happens. If I move the HST pedal around, it will start. Is there an adjustment for this. Some of the time is starts without moving the pedal. It is like the sensitivity is too sensitive?

What also happens is sometime when I get off of the tractor, the motor shuts off. Does this have something to do with the HST pedal?

I did grease the multiple HST grease fittings.

If the "neutral position" switch isn't made, it will either shut down if it's running as soon as the seat switch senses you're not there, or it won't allow you to start the tractor if you shut it off before you get down.

If you have a look around under the pedal area, the switch may be there. My L3400 is a DT model, so I can't check mine to verify. It MAY be internal, but I don't think it is. It may just be the pedal pivot is sticking a bit, you may need to give it a spray of something lighter than grease to free it up.

I got on a new Kubota the other day and I don't know why but the first thing I did was stick my foot on the drive petal! Took me a minute or two while I checked the PTO switch and played with the range lever before I realized what I'd done!.

They do have to be in the center!

I don't know if there is any adjustment. When I was having that problem, it was the grease fitting under the floor board where the pedal pivots.

It is what is also causing the engine to shut off. If the sensor is saying the pedal is pushed down and the seat sensor is saying there is no one sitting on the seat, the engine will shut off. Just like if you are on the ground and want to use your hand to push down on the pedal to move the tractor an inch to hook something up, the engine will stall unless you hold the seat down.

The safety cops are looking the other way today.. really.. My favorite trick is starting the tractor from the ground, there's no clutch switch on the L3400DT model, and the seat switch doesn't restrict you from doing it either. One day it'll slip into gear somehow and run over my foot, if I'm lucky.. but life's too short to worry about everything you do.

One of the problems with the myriad of safety warning stickers on any modern tractor is that no-one ever reads all of them, we just get numbed to them being there. Case in point, I just noticed the particular warning against starting the tractor from the ground last week, and I've owned it for almost two years...

Occasionally my L3800HST shuts down if I hop off, even though the pto is off and the parking brake is on. Now I know why! It must be the neutral-position-switch. Thanks, that's been bothering me!

I'm a little late to the conversation but maybe this will help. The drive pedal safety switch on the L3800 is to the right of the steering column under the dash, one bolt holds it in. Take it out so you can get to it and adjust it down so the pedal pushes it all the way in. That fixed mine.
