Well - After a few weeks of research on TBN and several trips to dealers I made a purchase. Thanks to all who have answered my forum questions and thanks for the TBN participants who contributed who didn't even know they did. As stated here many times, there's just so much relevant infomation here in old forums it just amazes me.

Anyway - Here's what I ended up with.

L39 TLB
Front remote for Grapple with button joystick setup (with connection adaptor if needed)(Getting Millonzi LD 48")
Standard QA Loader Bucket
Quick Coupler option for switching backhoe buckets
24" bucket and 12" bucket
Stabilzer Pads
Filled rear tires
Delivery - end of the week/early next week

Would of really liked a remote thumb on the hoe - but just couldn't swing it. May be kickin' myself down the line.

I'm sure fired up.

Take care.

Fantastic!!!

Congratulations. Based on all of the L39 owner feedback, you have landed a gem of a tractor. It will be fun for all of us to follow your projects as you describe them and, if possible, include some images.

What is on your immediate agenda when the TLB arrives?

If possible, could you please post some images of this set-up when you can. I really favor button controlled attachments when available. Could you please post a link to this item as well.

Do you foresee defined uses for each size bucket?

I would think you could add one later on if you really want one. It will give you some time to see how much you can accomplish with the grapple. You might just find that the grapple is more useful to you than a thumb.

Enjoy!!!

Congratulations!

TBN is great for getting other's experiences through purchases and practical use. I'm glad you did your research instead of an impulse-buy. You'll be happier in the end. I'll research every detail before I pull the trigger, and then never have any regrets.

As stated, please post pics of your machine upon arrival, during projects, and throughout it's life. It looks like Skypup babies his L39 and may have some tips on how to increase its longevity.

Congrats, again!

Clearing projects primarily. This will include lots of existing brush transport to burn piles, about a 100 stumps to remove, low areas to fill, and I have about 10 large trees to cut down and clean up.
Down the road a little (hopefully not too long)
- I have about 100 yrds of road ditch to culvert (It's currently a real pain to mow)
- A bridge to put in across 10 yrd wide meandering stream. (this could be a tough one)
- Fence to run for 2 to 3 1.5 acre pastures
- 2 retaining walls
- Outdoor Kitchen excavating (foundation, water, and electric)
- Landscaping pond to dig
- Barn foundation

I'm sure I have forgotten some things but this will give you an idea of what I'm looking at.

I sure will.

Probably got an answer from above info. Stumps and lines are why I wanted the 12" bucket.

The only thing I think I will still have trouble with is clearing the stream of dead fall. Lots of good size logs get caught up in it as the stream has been straighten upstream and alot of old beaver activity is still present. The banks of the creek are vertical if not back cut and 5 ft high. Would be nice to reach in and pluck the downfall out with a thumb.

I keep you posted.

Thanks

That certainly changes my initial thinking. A hydraulic thumb and backhoe reach would be welcomed for such an effort.

You have a great list of things to do. I cannot think of a better match to your needs than the L39. You might add a fold-up dinner tray to the ROPS post. I don't see you climbing out of the operator's seat anytime soon ;-)

Wow, looks like you've got a whole lot of fun, er, I mean work ahead of you. :D

You need to keep the hydraulic thumb in perspective. A good thumb with plumbing for the L39 will cost 15% of what I paid for a 9 ton used excavator with hydraulic thumb, dozer blade, + 20 ft reach, with air conditioning to work along side my L39.

You can get a nice mechanical thumb for under $1,000 and get all that exercise you need getting on/off the machine to adjust it. Save on gym membership!

MT824 Mini Excavator Thumb

My L39 was brand new in these pictures.

PS
Regarding Getting Millonzi LD 48", this is fine as long as you are just handling brush and logs, etc. Rocks will bend it. Just to save the LD grapple, I'd get the mechanical thumb. I hope you got a deal on the grapple.

Dinner tray is a good idea! Good Luck.

Congratulations on the purchase. From the projects you listed I think the L39 is a great pick. You will be happy with the 12” bucket for stump work. I put one on my B21 just for that purpose and it made a big difference.

One suggestion while the tractor is still with the dealer. If you don’t weld have some bucket hooks added and one hook added to the backhoe bucket. They are really handy for those hard to pick up items like logs in a stream bed.

Mike - Nice pictures.

I may go the mech. thumb route. Will wait and see how effective I can be with the bucket.

I don't really have many big rocks to deal with. I've seen your pictures. Oh my gosh! They have to be hard on equipment. Sure is a nice place though.
My soil is very sandy. Matter of fact the county use to mine sand out of the creek. I checked into a lot of others. They were quite expensive and I can actually pick up the Millonzi as I'm only an hour a away from where they are made ( not cheap to ship). I think it will do what I need it to. Hope I'm right.
