TBN Gang,
I have researched this almost as much as the Tractor purchase itself!
My L39 should be in late this week. Thanks for all for input to my decision.
Ok, the two Grapple companys that are in the running are AnBo and Bradco.
Of the two, i have only seen the Bradco Root Rake (Teeth Running the length of top clamp) in person. It is one heavy duty piece of equipment.
6ft Bradco Root Rake 1095 lbs $3500.00 Local "No shipping"
6ft Anbo GR 910lbs $3300.00 Plus $425.00 Shipping
Should i be concerned with the extra weight of the Bradco?
Or are they both to heavy for the L39 (2200lb of lift Cap)?
I have seen Lighter Grapples in the 600-800 lb range. But dont like the design
or build quality.
Any comments on the two or Grapples or in general would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time

Have you checked out the root grapples from Unlimited Fabrication ?

The price is about half of what you are quoting.

I just bought one of their rock buckets (with grapple and teeth) for my JD TLB 110, and while the item delivered did not look exactly like the picture of the rock bucket, it was even better. What I got had the "finger" spacing of the rock bucket, but the design of the root grapple, with side plates added. I paid an extra $20 for the three grab hooks to be welded on.

Shipping weight was 1003 pounds for a 72" bucket. Take a look at the attachment. (No, the chain is not attached to my dog, the chain is what I used to offload the bucket from the delivery truck.)

This thing is very heavy duty, and I am quite satisfied with it.

You would probably need a special attachment method, or an adaptor, since my 110 takes standard skid steer attachments.

I have the 81" heavy duty root grapple from Unlimited Fabrication and have been very happy with it. It is built very well and is about 1/2 the cost of many of the other grapples out there. Good luck with your search.

For the size of the L39 I recommend that a 5' or a 5'-6" grapple be considered.

The L39's strong suit is the hoe, not the loader. Its fine for loose , soft material. The curl snd breaout force is the weakest part. I'm not knocking the loader, as it is better than the average farm tractor, just not a real earthmover.

I went with a rock and root type grapple with very short front tines, i.e. the Borgford at 5.5 Ft and about 800 Lbs. I areadedy have needed weld repair. i move a lot of rock.

Depending on soil conditions and if you deal with logs and roots or mostly rock will determine the best choice for the L39.

I've used my grapple for about 100 hours, and for the most part, it works out very well. I have some photos in previous posts.

Living in Central Florida, you might want to look at the Rake Master by L.I.W Inc. in Perry, Florida. I got one for my L3010 last year and love it. A good friend of mine bought one for his L35 and has had no problems with it. This is the best built root rake / grapple I have seen and cost less than most others out there. He does not have a web site, but I can give you his number if you want it.

I've got the 66" ANBO Root Grapple on our L-39 @ 850 lbs with 300 hard hours of use, I doubt if you need a full 72" unit.
