L3940 HST Pedal

Need a little help diagnosing what is wrong with my l3940. I was bush hogging for a few hours and I was headed back to the barn when I noticed something was a little wacky with the throttle. I normally have it set so the rpms vary with the throtttle pedal. That way it drops to idle when sitting. (Not while bush hogging, I set it with the throttle to 540 on the pto)

Anyway I noticed that it was sluggish on the power, but the engine would rev to about 1500 rpms. When I went to put it in the barn (it was starting to rain hard) I let off the pedal and she kept going. Never had that happen before. Then I couldn't restart it. I got the manual out and figured out that the foot pedal was not in the neutral position. She fired up then. Pedal still has no feedback to it. it normally springs back to neutral. Anybody have a clue? I checked hydraulic fluid, it was a tad low but not too bad.

I would look close to see if a stick found its way under the pedals. That can happen pretty easy in brush.
My first guess.

I would second beenthere's point about a possible stick from under side. Also check linkage to see if it is not bent and moving freely. Had same happen to me only tractor took off on its own with me hanging on = wild ride....

I think there was some debris stuck in the throttle cable mechanism, but I am not sure. I got underneath and moved the pedal by hand while looking at the cables and cams and the pedal firmed back up to normal while I was rocking it. The way it has 2 springs to return it to center it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that it felt like there was no feedback to move to center from either forward or reverse. It works fine now. I lubed up the cables and will keep an eye on it, but there is nothing that I can pin it on for sure.
