I purchased L3940 last fall with 7' front blade, good decision for the winter we had, but now I find the occasional use for a loader. From what I can tell, the LA724 has two bucket options; 72" square back bucket, or, 72" heavy duty round back bucket. Which do you have? Do you like it? If you have the heavy duty round back bucket, do you have the bolt-on reversable cutting edge? Thanks, Philip.

I have the LA 703 on a L4400 and I had the same bucket choices. I got the HD round back Bucket with the bolt on cutting edge. The bucket edge that is welded on is HD and the bolt on edge is a bit much. I would recommend the HD bucket and get a tooth bar instead of the bolt on cutting edge. I took my bolt on edge off and it has not been back on since. My dealer said I didn't need it and I didn't listen.

We have the std. sq. back and like it fine. We used it to load the 155 bushel
spreader and handled the manure fine but wouldn't want a larger bucket on
our L3940 with just loaded tires. It had no trouble what so ever handling a
crammed full, heaped bucket of wet manure, now not soupy wet but wet
composted type manure. We hauled out about 15 loads. We have the tooth
bar and removed it the manure loading as we were on concrete.

Just make sure you get the skid steer quick attach for your loader bucket.

Ditto! Best thing since sliced bread. After my wife and her Dad struggled
with their old loader on the IH 574 with a pin on bucket, the first time we
swapped out the bucket for the spear my wife was like that's just too darn easy.

Philip-
I have an LA724 with the HD bucket & the reversible edge on my L3240. It's round on the inside & squarish on the outside. This makes for better separation of sticky (think clay, mud, muck) materials when dumping the bucket. The squared off back on the outside also gives you a nice contour for back draging. This bucket is very beefy with a nice section of pipe incorporated into the top front edge for stiffness and a round edge. The round edge is kind to any chain or rope hanging over it when lifting. I can't really comment on the cutting edge other than to say after 180 hrs of use it still looks almost new.
