Mounted the sub-frame for my plow this week. Just for kicks mounted the FEL with sub-frame attached to see if it would work. #1, the grill guard has to be removed, it interferes with the sub-frame hydraulic cylinder. The FEL is operational with the sub-frame mounted, but there is interference between the loader bucket in the lowered position and the nose of the sub-frame if the bucket is rolled back too far. Depending on what your needs are, you can use the FEL with the sub-frame attached. Philip.

I would have to try again but I think my 4240 with the 854 fel doesn't hit. The tractor was new so I may have not tried it in every possible position. A fellow, thought it was you, TBNer said he was able to put the grill guard on with the front subfame mount without issue but I didn't try it. It's nice to know that if I ever need to push a snow back back I only need to remove the blower from the quick hitch.

The grill guard and the front sub-frame bracket will mount without issue at the same time. Grill guard and sub-frame, no. Philip.

I read your other thread after I read this one last night. Unfortunately the two upright mounts for the hydraulic cylinder on the sub frame end up in the same spot as the lower cross member on the grill.

Have an L3940 HSTC with 72" front snow blower. It appears that the plow has the same sub-frame as the SB. I frequently use my FEL (same one as shown above) during the winter by removing the SB. I always cover the male connector plate with a couple layers of plastic bags to keep dirt out of the grease.

This season (3rd), one of the holes in the center mounting plate didn't line up. Found the FEL frame had shifted 1/4". I was surprised to find that every bolt on the FEL frame needed to be tightened. I try to follow all the recommended maintenance in the manual but missed the one to re-torque all bolts. Just a heads up to others who might have missed it too;>)

Yes, the front blade, front snowblower, and front rotary broom all share the same sub-frame.

This is my 2nd season. I too found the mounting bracket holes and the sub-frame mounting holes did not line up this fall, the ones in the middle. All bolts were tight, just had to do some re-adjusting of the brackets. Maybe the dealer did not set it up quit right, or maybe I hit something sometime. Philip.

There are so many things that enter into proper torque on bolts. When we move wheels around for customers we always drive the tractors (one customer said we are to rough because of skidding to a stop) And then retorque the wheel bolts.

Should they be retorqued to the loaders? You bet! Everything changes as the paint wears in different ways. It's tough to get them and keep them tight!
