Hello All--

I have a '08 L4240 HST. Has developed on 2 occasions when hot a steady stream of hydro fluid coming out of the front driveshaft and the split pin plug in the clutch housing. I shut it down and lower the FEL and hoe and the stream stops within a few minutes. Pulled the check plug on the front axle and it was pressurized, so I'm thinking when hot it expands the fluid and pushes it past the seal. I think the axle should have a vent on it, but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Your 2 leaks are not related. You must have a hydraulic or shaft leak for it to come out the spit pin. You should check the vent for for your rear housing as it might be plugged. As for the front axle there is no vent and a serious oversight on Kubota's part, at least that is my opinion. I took the fill plug on the top of the axle and drilled a 1/8" hole in it and tapped it for 1/8" pipe threads and screwed in a axle vent. I have had no leaks. If you plan on running in water you might want to extend the vent higher up in to the engine compartment.
