Anyone pulling a small (2x4) wire baler with the L4310? Just curious if it will do the job. any specific reasons to jump up to the L4610?

I would suspect the L4310 should have no problems. When I was a younger we used a AC D15 (approx 35hp) on a baler without any effort on the tractor. Kubota brochures show their tractors handling large round bales. Probably best to call a dealer who sells your make of baler and ask what is the recommended hp. A GST or HST should work well and allow you to speed up for thinner hay and slow down for areas of heavy hay.

I don't have the 4310 but I have the jd 4600 which is close to the same tractor and I use a new holland regular size square baler and a gehl 1600 pound round baler with no problems at all.

Wow, Richard, I've wondered how that Gehl round baler would work behind a smaller tractor. That's the only baler I've used personally and if I remember right, the manual recommended a minimum of 50 hp. And the only tractors I've used with it have been an 85hp Oliver and a 120hp Deere. We usually just made 5' x 5' bales, although occasionally 5' x 6'; Johnson Grass, rye grass, coastal, and haygrazer.

I know it's recommended for a bigger tractor but that jd didn't have any problems with it at all. Most of the time I use the Massey but I wanted to see if this one would do it and it did. The baler I have you can go up to 2500 pounds but I don't really want to find out if it will do that big. The guys at the john deere dealer told me it wouldn't do it either but they've told me alot that hasn't been true. I guess we'll see in about ten years how well it holds up. But if it does john deere should do a commercial on what I do with that 4600.
