I'n changing the transmission fluid in my L4330.

The service manual drawing seems to point to multiple drain plugs. I only see the big guy (23MM or is is 24MM wrench required).

Where are the other ones. I looks like there may be a drain plug on the inside of the rear wheel hub, I doubt that is trans fluid, is it?

Any help would be awesome.

Just removing the filters and the big plug pulled out a lot of fluid. Not sure if it is the full 11+ quarts and I mixed it with other old oil so hard to tell just how much came out via the two filters and big plug.

Yes, there are three, I believe Paul Short has a video on the L40 Series, same service as L30 at least it was on mine. Messicks also use to have instructions. Yes, it is transmission fluid, the only other separate oil is in the front axle nd you can use transmission oil or gear oil.

Found it: Kubota L-4 Series Service

Thanks.

That looks a lot like my tractor. Those things near the rear wheels look like the plugs I was not sure about. I was worried that draining there would require finding the fill points but now it looks like the trans/hydro system feeds those.

So, the big one and the two at the wheel ups.

It does look like, not sure, there is a fourth one in the pictures, or maybe it is a second picture of the big one.

Go under the tractor tomorrow.

Yeah, it is confusing until you get under there, I had my son look just to make sure. I have never been able to get as much fluid as called for in the manual. I also always use a new fuel filter too, quicker than cleaning it. They really are pretty simple, my son now does our L5740HSTC and M8540HDC.

I got under there today and I think it is three (the big guy and one at each hub). We went through the parts book at the dealer and I suppose if you did a lot disassembling you could get more.

Tomorrow I will pull the two back there and see how much I get. I have already pulled and replaced the filters.

I see how much I get. They say 11.4. I am also going to do the 4WD front axel. They are saying 9.6 qts. That seems like a lot. So far just the engine, the filters and the big plug I have just about ten gallons. Seems like not much.

It is kind of hard for me to lift a 5 gallon bucket and pour so I got five 2.5 gals and one extra gallon.

I have this backhoe that always leaks. I could rebuild ever darn cylinder and it would still leak next day. My old Kubato Hydro looks really good. I'm thinking about putting it in the backhoe.

After servicing your tractor, run it a few hours then check your front axle, many have found they needed to add more. My sons do all my maintenance and I still don't get the 5 gallon buckets, smaller one are jut handier.

Good advice since the front axel took well less than a gallon.

In fact the transmission was supposed to take 11.4 gallons but I barely got in 10. I ran it for awhile, raised the bush hog and lowered it a few times. Put it in gear, etc. Still at the full mark or slightly above.

I went through the parts manual and looked at all the pages for HST and found nothing new.

i'm wondering if the 11.4 is for an L4330 with a mid PTO. I don't have one. It shows a drain plug in the owners manual and I guess the mid PTO might require a bit more fluid.

I'll go run it next week and see what happens.

Oh, and I sure made a mess. I need to rig up a better system for pouring in the fluid.
