I'm looking for input between 2 tractors. The L4400HST and MX5100, I will be mowing roads and acreage. The MX5100 is $985.00 more but I think it for the extra HP it is a better deal. Any input from you Kubota experts out ther would really be apprecated. Thanks

The MX is a bigger framed tractor with more HP which would be a plus. I noticed the L4400 you are looking at is HST which is not offered in the 5100. The HST is nice in loader operations. If you don't need the HST I would go withe the 5100 or the NEW MX4700 which would be closer to the 4400. The MX4700 looks just like the MX5100......

check out the mx4700

you might also look at the M5040, a whole lot more tractor for not a huge difference over the mx. in 4 yrs time when it's paid off, you might be a whole lot more satisfied. mere hp is not the only consideration in a tractor. bb

Now the real chice would be if they made a MX5100 with HST. If you want HST in the HP Range and an economy price the L4400HST is a great machine and is very capable, the MX5100 would offer a heavier 3point Hitch and wider stance and a heavier built front axle with more HP.

I took Big Bubbas advice and looked at theM5040. Thanks for the input. The tractor will have a Kubota FEL and a 10' Rhino SE10-4A. How about some input on some trailers? I will be making 2 trips a year 800 miles round trip. Other than that I will stay local. Will it fit on a 20' lowboy 5500# axles or Will I need a 24' gooseneck?

think you'll really like the xx40 series. re: trailers, you might go to the transportation & trailers discussion on this tractorbynet. for hogging, I'd recommend having rear tires (ag) fluid filled for safety & traction. my guess is that would add around 600# per tire....you can get the tractor weight from the spec sheet on the Kubota site, then have to add the fel weight (don't think they figure that in?) my rough guess is that w/fel & ballast in rears, the rig would weight around 7200-7500. I'd go with a 6' hog (med duty), ask your dealer, the tractor should handle it (check pto hp requirement of hog) that would put the total weight around 8500. definitely go gooseneck, but see what the experts say. BTW the price increments between the 50-60-7040 is (was) around $1500. good to do the homework and look to future needs before signing a 3.5 yr commitment good luck bb
