Hi guys,
Unfortunately I'm not home to take more pics of the tractor so I don't have a good one but maybe one of you pros can help me out?

I found a set of chains that are the right size for my tractor but I don't know if my tractor either already has spacers or maybe has those 2 piece rims?? that you can switch the tires around, but it looks like I would be able to fit them? I don't remember it being too 'tight' in there. Does anyone with this or a similar model tractor run chains, or know if they would fit?

Sorry for the bad pics...I may be able to get my wife to take a better one and email it to me if that would help?

I am only looking at the pics, but i think you have two piece rims/centers that are already dished out. So if the space between the fender and the tire - on the side - is over 2" you sould be just fine. Just get the chains on tight and keep them that way.

I have not found affordable spacers from JD so I am making some myself. Kubota might offer some for your tractor at a better price. Check with them to be sure. Good Luck

I would agree that you need at least 2" clearance both side and top for chains. Your pics appear that you have at least that? Pics can be misleading. On my 5030 with R4's I was too tight (between widest part of tire and the fender brace near sidewall). I bit the bullet and switched tires/rims to R1's to make the necessary room for chains. Expensive move, but I got new tires (and rims) and much improved traction any time of year. So far, these R1's are doing the job in the snow. When they don't I'll order the tire chains.

RonB,
I know I'm starting down a slippery slope with this question, but do you use your tractor on the lawn at all? Did you notice a big difference with the R1's tearing up the yard? The reason I'm asking is because since you went from R4's to the R1's on the same tractor you might have a good comparison.

I'm wishing I bought a tractor with R1's because for the most part, I use it in the woods and in the dirt, I'll drive over my lawn but I don't use it to finish mow or spread mulch in a nice flower garden or anything like that. However I do use the FEL a lot with considerable weight in it (logs/rocks).

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it to switch your setup? I think you probably have the same tires as me.

Looks like plenty of room to me. You should have ~2" between tire and fender for chains and margin - if you have that much or more, you're good to go. My L4200 has tons of room - I think your tractor is of a fairly similar design.

Thanks Jay,
I've decided to buy them. They are the regular ladder style type and not my first choice but I couldn't pass up the deal.
I hope they work out okay but if not I'll sell them and buy a more 'aggressive' type.
