I had a
L3200 (now
L3301) & recently upgraded to a L4060hstc...
The grands have nicer transmissions. HST+ is a 2 speed HST infront of the normal 3 speed manual all HSTs have. The GST transmission is an automatically shifting geared transmission (No need to hit the clutch to change direction or gears). The HST has no clutch & brakes on the left. Electrohydraulic actuated PTO vs. The lever on the economy model (need to clutch to engage).
Nicer 3pt linkage. Stabilizers are the adjustable pin on style vs a turnbuckle on the economy model. Also has some extendable links at the end (I use a Quick Hitch, so don't use that bit). The side link is much easier to turn & just drops the handle to lock vs. The lock nut on the economy unit.
The grands are a lot heavier than the economy models & have beefier loaders. My
L4060 feels more stable lifting 1000lbs with no ballast than my
L3200 did lifting 1200lbs with 300lbs on the end of my rotary cutter (loader wouldn't lift any higher than 3' & it felt really sketchy).
Nicer setup on lots of small stuff. Dipstick instead of a sight glass, air filter efficiency gauge, tilt steering wheel. Economy machine has a tach, fuel gauge & temp gauge. Grand has speedometer & lots of other info on the digital display. Comes stock with a couple ok cab mounted lights & rear view mirrors.
R4 rims on the grand are adjustable, fixed on the economy machines. Not sure how R1 rims compare.
